This is a crime, Literally!!

Most of you know my profession. In addition to doing Fatal and Class 1 accidents, I get assigned hit and runs in between cases. Without devulging too much a case crossed my desk this afternoon:

"Suspect vehicle, a 1992 Subaru SVX, fled south on S 5th St. after striking Unit #2. Vehicle was described as a red SVX with two dummy hood scoops and writing on the side..." - excerpt from the state crash report.

Some people....

SVX becomming well known.?

I am supprised that by-standers reconised it as a SVX, let alone to say it was a 92 model.

Harvey. ;)

it has been reported that hooked-up scoops cause raw furry criminal behavior.

NACA Ducts or hood scoops???

(what a strange question, looks like hell either way.....)

NikFu S. 10-14-2004 06:44 PM

I bet it was more like mock hood vents.

Royal Tiger 10-14-2004 07:39 PM

The reporting officer knew it was a 1992 from the plate. The witness knew it was a SVX. It said "hood scoops" so I'll let you know when I find the car.

There are no 92 red svxes unless he repainted the car

What a strange (and horrible) sighting!

Royal Tiger 10-15-2004 09:33 AM

I found the car. It is a barcelona red 1992 LS-L. It has the mouse track belts. He painted the waterfall grill body color. It had two dummy scoops on the hood. The kind that stick up. He also is the owner of that dark blue 1994 LSi I saw before with the huge bi-plane rear wing on it and the yellow writting on the windows. That one also has the grill painted. Both interiors were painted over the wood grain and had shift knobs on the auto floor shift. Both had aftermarket rims. He also owns a 1996 LSi and a 1995 L parts car. As for it being repainted Lwin, I looked in the door jambs and under the hood. It appears to be original paint. The VIN is for a 1992 and is registered as such.

No red in '92.... claret, yes, barcelona red, no...... (I do believe :D)

Seraph 10-15-2004 11:36 AM

This is the first barcelona red in 92 ever. I know they made them all that way in 93s...

Wow. you do learn a new thing every day.

Royal Tiger 10-15-2004 11:54 AM

I should have pulled the data plate info for my own curiosity. It must be a very late 92. It does have a 1992 VIN. The paint behind the motor and everywhere else I looked for tell tale repaint was barcelona red.

A very early '93, perhaps?

Does it have the center console lock switch?
