Tranny gear ratio Questions, please help im new to the svx world
Hey guys i just recently bought a laguna blue 1994 svx FWD immaculate condition and 75k miles.
My plans with the car is to convert it to a AWD 5 speed manual What i have bought for the swap already is and COMPLETE drivetrain from driveshaft to hub / and sub frames off of an AWD 1994 SVX. The tanny i think im going to go with is the 02-05 wrx tranny. now the only thing im stummped on is that if i use the o2-05 wrx tranny it says i can leave the rear end stock?! the reason why im stummped is because isny the final rear of the svx like 3.45 or close to that? and isnt the wrx 4.xx? someone please clear up my ignorance on this car and refering to what i have car and parts combined, what tranny do i need? thanks much |
2nd question
will the stock front axels pop right in an 02-05 wrx tranny ?

Young Tom (aka TOMSSVX) is your man for 5 or 6 spd mods (tipping my hat to Huck as I type this:cool: ). He's working out of his own garage space in Philly, so it shouldn't be much of a drive for you. Old Tom (SVXFiles), while the Father of the 4.44 AT mod, is also a possibility for you - he's west on 70 over in Cumberland (okay, Wiley Ford, WVa, to be exact;) )

The '02-'05 WRX 5MT uses a 1.1:1 center diff. What that means is that it's got a 3.90 front diff and a 3.545 rear end, with an effective final ratio of 3.90.
Since the SVX's rear end is already a 3.545, the WRX 5MT is about as plug-n-play as a 5MT gets, you'll just need a 2" spacer on the drive-shaft IIRC. |
