Struts again!

Ok, I know this topic is old. But... I replaced my front struts in Oct 2012. Don"t know manufacture date. Had a flat today and a routine check of tires and brakes and they told me driver's side front and rear struts are leaking. Front worse than rear. So, how long is Subaru warranty for parts? Are the newer oem date struts holding up? Is there a better option than oem available for folks like me without fabrication skills? It's my Daily driver. I love her and want reliable option.

1 year, unlimited mileage on struts. Pretty sure 2012 is the range of time everyone was claiming newer stock/production and we kept warning everyone. Take your chance with Subaru again or take the plunge with coilovers.

I think you guys should send me a batch of damaged struts for me to rebuild them for you and send back.

My first rebuild was in 2004 and did them again in 2012 not because they leaked, but to install the GC kit.

P.S: My country is full of potholes btw.

Re: Struts again!

i bought new subaru struts about six months ago just to see if they would last but i don't expect them to. production date was 10/13, going to take them off when they are one year old and test them. if you want your struts to last i would not recommend going oem. i kept my old stuts if you want me to send them to silverspear to get fixed and then send me yours when he is done i can.

Well I am ready guys anytime you want.
I would prefer though if you can put together a group buy, I will see if I can negotiate a better price from him.

Another problem is the price of shipping back and forth. Do you guys mind the time they take? I think there is a good shipping forwarder who can handle the movement/customs in both countries at a good rate. My cousin deals with him regularly, so I think I can get a good deal in turn.

But still a group buy is in order to drive the price down on everything.

Yeah, shipping would be the *****. It's also not that hard to have anything like that done here in the US. you just have to find a place, or just do it yourself. ;)

I am going to look myself to see what they look like. They still feel real firm. No bouncy ride. Take a pic even. Go from there.

Took a look for myself. Could not find any major oil leakage. Slight oil residue on sides of strut . maybe from when oil was leaking from IRIS valve gasket and elsewhere. Put my finger down into base of strut and it was bone dry. I think I am good for now...
