Just put deposit-need opinions 2nite...

I just gave a refundable deposit (until 10am) on a 92 w/41k. Has a small dent in hood, but clean otherwise but has slight smoker's smell-can/will that ever dissipate?

Also: slight hum to the PS pump that mellowed as it warmed(28'f);

Moderate grunching noise on heavy front spring compression-something in the strut/tower?

Heater on AUTO never seemed to slow down or cool down after warming-bad sensor?

NIce otherwise and if we keep it, our blackie 92 w/86k will be on the block if anyone's interested. thanks!

So any ideas on the PS pump, heater or front spring noise? I'm on a deadline until 9am when it's buy it or not time. Thanks!

Also anyway to determine if the trans is original? Nicest svx trans I've tried btw.

The original trans will have the vehicle VIN on it, but I am a ways away from mine to tell you exactly where it would be located. That seems like several problems for a car with only 41K miles on it. Mine doesn't have some of those with 200K miles.

Make sure the mileage is correct.

The ps noise is probably the resevoir o-ring. It's an easy/cheap fix and there's instructions in the how-to locker.

the front spring crunching can be a dozen things, in general the strutt or even the strutt mounts can go. But could even be cheap like a sway bar kit, or a bushing, but I have no SVX experience in that area...yet, so I'm just speculating.

The powersteering o-ring fix could resolve your problem, I am having the same symptom, and was advised to do same, still a to-do for me.

Temp sensor? I've heard of this item becoming faulty before in some other threads, try a search for temp sensor. But it could also be more serious.

All-in-all, with such low miles(assuming the carfax is good) it should be in pretty good shape.

Oh, the smokers smell, just start smoking, you won't notice after that:rolleyes:

Thanks, were down to last hours b4 decision time. It the one on ebay in green and it's authentic miles. PS pump is minor either way. I'm sure I can figure the spring/strut problem and there's BigD aerosol spray bomb for the stinko-supposedly works well. Thanks

green pearlie

Jeff,

Looks like a great car... I saw it too and I believe that this is its second posting on eBay.

I got my green pearlie there too and got one with higher mileage *(128K) but the ultra low miles is highly desireable.

It is curious that there seems to be more detail problems but if the transmission is really solid (and it should be) and you can afford it, is looks to be a solid purchase.

After all its 11 years old, rubber seals/bushings do dry out with time. If you do buy it, get all fluids changed asap, install a transmission cooler and "LUBEGUARD" in the trans and ENJOY!!!

did ya?

Jeff, by now you will have bought the car...or not. Let us know how you did. Aside from the minor problems it sounds like a great car. I'm too lazy to look it up on eBay right now, how much did/could you have bought it for?

JeffN 03-18-2003 10:51 PM

Actuallly just back in town and should do it tomorrow. Kepp you posted.

NOw I've found a 94 lsi w 48k for 10k. Black w/spoiler no dings, non smoker, warranty, dual bags...hard to compare to the greenie 92. I feel like a louse that the dealer took the greenie off ebay for me on a small deposit. Maybe I'll throw him new listing fees as well.

Anyone in BOULDER that could check out the black one for me? Or any good Sube dealers there to take ie to? Thanks
