Heater Control Panel

Anyone ever pulled this out ? Mine has a few burnt out bulbs and would like to replace them. I've got the bulbs from RS, but not sure how to get at them. It appears they install from behind the unit.

Rob, I'm not even sure the bulbs are replaceable. In the chance that they are, you must have to open the unit to get to them. You will need to remove the unit from the car.

I believe there are two screws on top and one on the left hand side. There are also two connectors and a vac hose on the left hand side. You must remove the instrument cluster surround and the top right hand vent.

If you need any more help, let me know!

Hey,

I think the bulbs are from the picture on subaruparts.com. They show being the RS 7219 bulbs (like the buttons below the panel).

I really didn't want to pull the dash out, for 1 bulb I think is out... Might just leave it !

Thanks again for the part, worked out great !

Well, you don't have to pull the dash out. The instrument cluster surround has 5 screws. There are 3 on the top and 2 under the switch pods on either side (which just pop out and unplug). The upper right side vent is simple. Now that I think of it, you should only have to pop the cover off to gain access to the climate control screws. Then unplug the connectors and remove the other 2 screws holding the climate control in. I can have one out in 10 minutes, although I have done it 10 times....so I would expect someone who has never done it to be able to tackle the job in 30+ minutes.

Thanks, I'll give it a try... Doesn't sound too bad.
