Alcohol injection?

I was reading in road and track today in the tech tidbits section, and found an interesting article talking about injecting different types of fluids into your motor such as ethanol methanol E85 and even windsheild washer fluid.

They talk about a company called Ethanol Boosting Systems LLC or EBS for short, who is working with MIT's professor Daniel Cohn in designing new types of injections to help with fuel economy and performance. They mention all sorts of different options of where the technology could go in the future and how you could help keep your motor running cooler and more efficient soley by injecting some windsheild wiper fluid in it! They talk about how these could help even hybrids to increase their potential MPG.

So this got me thinking, I know there is at least one person on here running meth injection right now. How much do current systems cost? How much power does it add? and what are the real benefits of having alcohol or meth injection into the EG33? Also, how difficult is it to install???

Re: Alcohol injection?

Call me.. I can give you a better idea over the phone.. Briefly though..

There are several high quality companies out there... Snow performance, Coolingmist, Aquamist, etc etc.. I have a Coolingmist single jet set-up, spraying pre blower. The jet I am using is the largest one available from Coolingmist. I run a basically 50/50 mix of pure meth and distilled water.. I have the actual recipe at home. It injects as soon as I hit 1 psi of boost, but that is totally adjustable.... My set up I got "used" (it had been installed but never actually run) and it cost me $200 but the kit new would run around $575 for what I have.. The cooling efficiencies that can be gained by meth/water/alky injection far exceeds the capacities of any FMIC or TMIC from what I have read. So obviously power gains can be significant...

interesting. I'll hit you up sometime, but for now one quick question, as of now is the tech only out there for f/i motors?

no, it's not only for cars that are using forced induction, you can use it on the svx no problem.
i'm still trying to find a spot in my trunk to mount the tank - so hopefully it will be in sooner than later ~

i have the coolingmist stage 2 kit, i'll be running 100% meth
