Hi everyone, My first post so here goes.
Ever since i saw an SVX go past me on a motorway, i thought i had to have one. Three years later,i've finaly got one,It's a japanese import as there are'nt many official model's available and i love it, there is one problem i've noticed, When i get it up to 120 mph,the car judder's and wont go any faster, The rpm is 4000, but if i do these rev's in the lower gears, it does'nt do it. Not having had an automatic before, i hav'nt got a clue what it is.
Can someone out there help me with an answer and a solution.
regards, Numbnuts, (name only, not a medical condition)

Sounds like a speed limiter. USDM cars don't have one, but I'm not sure if overseas vehicles have one or not.

What happens when you try to go faster than 120 in 3rd gear rather than 4th?

Is yours an actual UK or JDM edition?

With mine as soon as it would shift into 4th (125mph) the acceleration was almost non-existant. The 5spd cured that problem.

I also found if I left the shifter in 3rd I could get an extra 5mph before it forced the shift to 4th.

Thanks for taking the time for replying guy's, It's a jap import, the SVX is such a rare car over here, only ever seen three and one of those was on a lot forecourt so i guess people got them in the country via grey import. European laws only allow car manufacturer's from outside europe to bring in so many, so people bring in second hand model's(grey import). As far as i know, there is only about 200 uk spec.
I will let you know how i get on in 3rd gear as soon as i can ,gotta be careful, My job relies on my licence,(self employed trucker), buggered without it!
Regards, Numbnuts.

All JDM cars have a 180km/h speed limiter.

Check this thread to remove the limiter.

Hey Paddles, Would you believe it, that eliteinternational you recommended is only in my home town innit, I can walk down there and get one.
One more thing, Is there anyone out there who has got a speedo face that reads in Km's because when i get the speed converter fitted it wont be any good with one that reads in Mph Doh!
I dont know who did the original mph conversion on my car but, when they made the dial face, they missed out the 110 mph marking, dozy bugger's

Speed limiter

Tried it in 3rd gear this morning, did the same thing, It would'nt go above an indicated 120, Allowing for the fact that the 110 is missing on the dial, that means definate speed limiter is fitted so guess what is on my shopping list...... an S22!

Porter 12-13-2004 11:19 PM

I believe you keep the km/h gauge in the car... it converts to read in MPH, i.e. an indicated 40 km/h is 40 mph
