Off Topic or NOT?

Since its apparent that some of you feel that the ONLY thing we should talk about on this forum is the SVX, excluding all other cars, excluding all other ideas, and ONLY talk about the SVX, I am making a poll here. Note that anything not relating to the SVX would be considered 'off topic' and not welcome on this forum; Kelli passing her nurse thing would be an example, so would the hijack thread, so would the thread about top speed, etc etc etc.

Please THINK before you vote. If you vote SVX TOPICS ONLY, then nothing should be posted on this forum that doesn't relate to hte SVX.

Personally, I view this specific forums (general SVX babble) as THE place for off topic threads; its title is General SVX babble, which means that its the place to babble and chatter, not only about SVXs, but just if you own one or are a fan of them. We have OTHER forums for other subjects, the tech forum is for technical problems ideas, and hte mod forum is for upgrades- so it makes sense that we can post off topic ideas in this specific forum.

Anyway, g'luck all.

SHISVX 12-21-2002 09:55 AM

would you stop with the o/t bull?? who cares, if you don't have any interest in reading something, don't! more of your stuff is off topic then mine, such as this thread...the responce to the hijack thread....and so on. we like to have the some what of a family atmosphere, even if we want to put some of our kids up for adoption

Kelli

$VX 12-21-2002 09:58 AM

Yeah I know! I agree 100% Kelli! But in the 'chill out cash' thread, a few members stated that they ONLY want to talk about SVXs in here, nothing else whatsoever. I disagree. I like talking about SVXs, and hearing about your nursing degree, etc etc. Variety makes life more interesting, and thats what I'm trying to prove here.

- Ca$h

Landshark 12-21-2002 10:03 AM

i think off-topic threads are interesting and let you get to know the people on here better. i wouldn't even mind a Neon thread every so often as its own thread, but when Neons permeate every thread on the forum, that is when they get hard to read. of course, I'VE never been guilty of going off-topic :p

as you may have read, i kinda stuck up for you, but sometimes enough o/t is enough...

But I've never done that - people just keep making mountains out of molehills.

PS: So far its 100% we can go off topic. Woohoo!

TROLL ALERT!!!! TROLL ALERT!!!

Gee I guess that's what I don't like about neons

There driven by Trolls.....

Bye the way... I didn't read your posts cash. I don't have to .... everyone else seems to quote you to the negitive... Grow up. Go Driving.... Have fun... but some how... be nice..... Thank you..:) :) :) :) :) :) :)

mohrds 12-21-2002 02:05 PM

The tables have turned

OK People.

Enough!!!!

Everyone back to your corners.

Rob posted a calm, very relevant topic and reply after reply has been a character assassination against him.

Other than the last item in the poll, He didn't use vulgarity, it wasn't hostile, he didn't mention any other cars. Rob, you were close to having a perfect thread, but not close enough.

If some of you think that harassing and berating Rob constantly is the best way to deal with him, then I rate you even more immature than he used to be.

Rob, this post is an excellent example of how you have tried to be nicer. You still need to scale back on starting hostile flame fests, but I'm seeing fewer of them from you and more from others.

I thought you people were better than this...

Doug

Andy 12-21-2002 02:41 PM

Well said Doug.

Although sometimes amusing, he gets a lot of unjustified abuse. Of course he can be irritating at times but I am starting to find him rather cute. (In a fatherly sort of way)

Aredubjay 12-21-2002 02:47 PM

Everyone knows (well, almost everyone) that O/T posts are always welcomed here. It's is when ONE SINGLE SUBJECT begins to predominate the entire forum that things become tiresome.

It's also when people post stuff simply to stir up controversy, and to provoke and to simply be annoying that the taste begins to become bitter in people's mouths.

And, just to note, people can be vulgar without vulgarity. The "tone" of the post (i.e. some people here . . . . blah, blah, blah) by its very nature is vulgar in that it's a challenge, not a poll, and it is completely unnecessary. I won't dignify it by placing a vote. BLECH!

I'm sorry but i have to say something here, you said you didnt read his post and you are bashing him, that is probobly true about most of the threads that blow up. On Ca$h's first couple of posts maybe he didnt make the right decisions, but now everytime he makes a post people try to read the worst out of it, or like you just did don't even read it and then jump to conclusions. You seem to be purposly antagonizing him into a fight, and then everyone blames him 100%.

$VX 12-21-2002 03:27 PM

Thanks Acylone. I'm pretty sure once I go to a meet or something people will quit being jerks. I'm extremely easy to get along with as long as you don't have a supra wing and use signals. hehehe.

off topics or my Neon thing

Ca$h,

You just won't let this go will you....

I do not care about the Neon/Cavalier or whatever thing ....

If you must, lets have an off topic thread but thats A-OK with me because I won't open it and read the less than interesting things there.

I'm not trying to rain on your party: its just that the off topic nonsense (hijack thread) is a huge waste of space (and time) although after 5 pages, I could care less about it too..

If you need to share about your neon thing, please do... somewhere else

Hotshoe

CopsodyX 12-21-2002 04:57 PM

I hate blasting people but come on already...

Everyone likes the off-topic posts here, except ones like these from you. You know very well that when some people said these forums are for SVX talk only, they meant that they're simply sick of all your Neon rocks bull****. We heard your opinion that they're great cars, but frankly, i'm sick of every post from you being a means to drill your opinions into my head. We heard your opinions. We respect them. Now shut the **** up about them unless, say, someone specifically asks something about a Neon!

And also, threads like these are stupid as can be. You only seem to be posting them to cause trouble, and you know you are doing it. What was the point of the last choice? To be an asshole? You succeeded. And I think a lot of people are starting to resent the fact that you're still a member here. Also, maybe apologizing sincerely when you're wrong would be a good thing to do. Just PLEASE, stop posting **** like this. I know I don't HAVE to read it, but the forums would be a lot happier if these topics didn't exist.

I didn't have to read his post... I saw the poll... It was another stab.... I don't want to antagonize him.. I think that if he were to tone down his attacks and just think about how he says things, 98% of his posts would be fine and no different from most of the rest of us..... I do not condone ANYONE that calls someone "Stupid" because they don't agree with a held opinon... I don't like the word... I'm pretty sure it says something about the mentality of the person who says it. I don't think there is a "Stupid" person here... I accept the diversity! I embrace the arguments! I just will not accept the childish behavior of someone that is old enough to drive.... I would bet that that behavior carries over to their driving..... .... That' not a good thing.... If I have offended ANYONE because of the word TROLL, I'm sorry. It is a term for someone that frequents a message board for the sole purpose of causing just this kind of post..... I will try NOT to be one.... ..

I didn't vote because I didn't see what I thought my answer would be. Oh well. :) It is always hard to come up with an absolute answer - especially on this. I don't really think that whatever the vote shows will be what is allowed here anyway.

Ron Mummert 12-22-2002 08:33 PM

I think I'll stay out of this one for a while. However, lately whenever the subject is Polls, & I push the VOTE button, I'm getting a Bulletin Message - "The action you've attempted could not be performed, as your session appears to be invalid.....Please try again". Could anyone of you enlightened 'puter folks please validate me?
Oh - would this question be O/T were I forced to play by Ca$h's new rules?

No vote

I can't in conscience dignify the poll with a vote either. Anybody used to these forums knows that practically anything goes when posting a new thread, and very many times people have deviated from thread logic for a joke, something tangentially interesting, whatever we like to yap about.

So the whole premise of the poll is a waste of time, and worse, it's inflammatory, even without the rudeness of the last option.

I actually don't know what a Neon is, and could care less. I myself, before I bought the SVX, was and remain an avid Matra devotee. On this forum, I may have mentioned this two or three times in almost 2000 posts.

People are not complaining about off-topic rules. They are complaining about too much Neon propaganda. It is totally disingenuous of you to post a poll which attempts to validify a problem which isn't there. Deal with the reality of this Ca$h.

Feel the need to promote Neons? [or Mustangs or 'Vettes or Camaros etc ad nauseam], find another soapbox. This one's taken.

If he's that colour, get him checked out for liver problems:)

I could have, usually do, signed off with a smilie. However, I would like Ca$h to take the message seriously.

So I am going through the smilie index in case there is one in there he will take seriously, and stop being a pain!

To SVX Network Officers.

I vote to EXCOMMUNICATE Ca$h.

I know it's the Christmas season, but enough is enough.

When are the SVX Network officers going to ban this guy for good? Eddycat was less of an irritant.
Randy, Doug, Steve, Chris, etc...when are you going to show some backbone and pull the plug on this jerk?

I now put a motion on the table to ban Ca$h. Will someone out there please second it so our "Network Officers" can finally get off their duffs and do something instead of acting like typicl politicians.

Larry Singer

PS: Ca$h, I tried being nice. I tried giving you some advice. None of that worked. Someday you are going to shoot your mouth off once too often, and someone is going to punch your lights out. I just hope that you're not too badly injured and that you finally learn you lesson.

Me too Joey

He's not bad at times, but he is running out of friends here, and I can see the writing on the wall. I'm pretty sure he will not want that, he likes posting so much.

He has a ridiculously confrontational way of replying to certain posts. Probably listens to too much Eminem, and thinks that's real life.:D

For a man whose idea of a pickup is a mid-engined Honda, your social education is curiously patchy.

Are you in the Atlantis part of Guernsey by any chance??

Dear Mr. Singer,
Politicians, though we may be, the Officers are officers of the SVX World Network and that Network only serves to support the forums. We do not own them, we do not control them, we have no power to excommunicate anyone. We can "ask," just like you, but, again, we have no ability to control any aspect of the Forums.
Even as "moderators" Mike and I have limited abilities. We can edit and delete posts and threads, but, we, as moderators, cannot excommunicate, or ban anyone. So, your references to our backbones are misplaced.

There are only two people with the power to ban or excommunicate. You should know who they are, so, I suggest you send them a Personal Message with your recommendation, as should all who share your angst. If enough people share your thoughts, and they are expressed to the appropriate person, I'm sure appropriate action will be taken.

Thank you for your concern and your post.

With kindest regards.

Randy Johnson
President
SVX World Network

Your wording is...errorful...lol

$VX 12-23-2002 11:28 AM

1. I support off topic posts
2. I'm not promoting neons, I was promoting information. When someone states that an SVX is 'fast' while a neon is 'slow', they are MISINFORMED, because as proven in another thread, they have almost identical power to weight ratios, and depending on the driver the neon could possibly be in front of the SVX til about 60mph.
3. Look at the votes. We have 4 people on this forum who admittedly turn into assholes over a CAR. Who's immature?
4. We have some people (who were previously respected by me) wanting to ban me. For what? What have I done? Disagreed with you? Who's immature?

Guys cool down a bit please. It is a nice season to be peaceful.

Rob,
Like Doug said, the nature of topic was relavent. However, your last response in this thread was not really needed - IMO.

As for the rest of the guys, give the guy a break. I personally do think that Rob has changed a little. He still has some issues to work through but compare to the first time he came over, this is a hell of a lot better.

For those that have access to the hidden forum (you all know who you are), I think we may have a slightly bigger issue on our hand than Ca$h. I am not saying this is a panic alarm but this is another topic that may need discussion since the board meeting is going to come up soon. I will post there in a minute.

I would like to end my post by saying that we all should calm down a little and let's enjoy the holidays.

lwin
