Removing Pistons

Has anyone had success with commercially available piston pin removers and piston circlip pliers? Due to their high cost, I am trying to avoid buying the specialty tools from subaru. Thanks, chris

Cut the handles off of a regular pair of long nose pliers and weld straight rods on.

Clips, yes. You'll need to fabricate a rod to gently press into the pin to remove them. LAN had a post where he discussed the one he machined up. You might also PM TOMSSVX to see what he's using to remove the pins.
