I don't need this car. I like it, I enjoy driving it, but it's not necessary for me to have it, I have enough toys already. It's a 1992 Subaru SVX, 160,000 miles on it, with an 06 STi 6 speed swapped in. Wheels are off an FD RX-7. It also has a flowmaster 40 series muffler, on the stock exhaust. Apart from that it's stock. It's originally a US car. I currently daily drive it, but it still needs some work. The shifter needs a boot, right now you can see road through it, etc. I have a ton of spare OEM parts for it, headlights, suspension, hubs, etc. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...FTJ/svx/18.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...x/IMG_4468.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...x/IMG_4469.jpg I don't know if it would pass emissions, and I don't know how to import it to the states. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX

Tempting, if I had the cash...
What are your plans to keep working on, just out of curiosity? |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Put in a shift boot, reassemble the dash, replace the dented front right fender (have a brand new one painted and ready to go), make the exhaust look pretty, then start rebuilding all the parts I pulled off the parts car and replacing everything on this one.

Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Forgot to mention, it's got a brand new alternator and starter.

Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Someone was kind enough to back into the car with their flatdeck truck, smashing the side glass, windsheild and side mirror.
If I try and get it fixed through insurance, the car is going to get written off, and you can't buy the car back after it's been written off here anymore to part it out So if anyone is interested in taking the car off me as-is, fire me an offer. I'm still trying to get the guy who hit me to pay out of pocket for repairs, so I might end up fixing it but we'll see. The car is still drivable, plastic over the smashed out window. It doesn't *appear* to be any structural damage, just cosmetic and the glass. I'll get some pics in short order. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Wow, that pretty much completely sucks. I hope you are able to fix it, or sell as-is. Don't let it go to a junk yard with that 6MT installed.
I have no money, and I am half a continent away... but I can think of things I would do to restore, and further modify that car, if I could afford it... |

Just hammering out a settlement with the guy who hit me But if someone gave me $5000, I'd give them the car as-is, plus all my spare SVX parts (headlights, trunk, stock wheels, some interior panels, suspension, brakes) Once again, there's no structural damage as far as I can tell, just cosmetic, so if you have a spare windshield and sideglass, it should be cheaply fixable. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Insurance company says they're going to repair the car... as soon as the guy who hit me owns up to it. Argh. He knows he did it but he's stringing it along as long as he can to be a dick.

Your ad would be much better and answer many questions that members have if you would follow the template that is stickied in the For Sale section. Thanks :)

Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
If I had cash...
I would sorely be tempted to buy this one, and Mike's that is prepped for paint... and build one car from them both, since Mike's has the manual gearbox pulled out of it. There are a plethora of good project candidates around the country... but seemingly none in the upper midwest... and I couldn't afford a project right now, anyway. Hard enough to keep the house warm, and the groceries going, and the cars that I have on the road. I hope the insurance company gets on the stick and repairs the car for you, or the next owner, at least. |

But basically, they have to call him a bunch of times, he doesn't answer or fobs them off with excuses, eventually they'll send him a registered letter and then if he doesn't do anyhing about it they can go after legal action. And I'll redo the OP using the template I surpose :P |

Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Claim was approved today, they're fixing it :D
I'm going to get the body shop to throw on the new fender while they're doing the insurance work (paying for that) Once the car is all fixed back up, price is still sitting at $6000, but I'll throw in *all* my spare SVX parts, including factory service manual and an extra set of stock wheels. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Booked in for tuesday, it's getting the glass, mirror and fender replaced
Should look brand new :D |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Bump. Car is fixed.

Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
May just be my computer speakers but there appears to be a lot of background noise that doesn't allow you to get a good listen of the exhaust...
|
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Seems pretty clear on my computer, best sound is from video 2

Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Unfortunately if this car doesn't sell for the asking price in the next 6 months it's going to be parted out.

Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
My situation has dramatically changed, I have to move in a month to a place with far less room than I've enjoyed for the past 3 years. I will consider *reasonable* offers (i.e. don't offer less than what the transmission alone is worth)
Still will include whatever spare SVX parts I have. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
I cant believe no one has bought this yet. Did you post it on NASIOC?
|
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
A quick google shows 3500-4500 going rate for STI gearboxes...
damn, I wish I had money. I still haven't found a buyer for my motorcycle, which I told my wife I would sell, to offset the $1000 SVX I bought last summer... and things are still pretty darn tight to justify another one for that sort of money... even though I think it is probably a more-than-fair price. This is the car you were trying to sell good leather seats out of a month or two ago, right? how did the A-pillar repair turn out? |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
No, I still have those seats, they came out of a non-runner I had.
If someone buys the car, they get the seat leather, as well as everything else SVX related in my basement. The repair looks good, aside from a nick in the hood, you'd never know it happened. The car is by no means a show car, but with no rust it has good potential. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
I'd consider a trade for an older running legacy turbo, AWD 2.2 Impreza or a dual range EA series + cash
|
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Damn.. not even a lowball offer.
Guess she's getting the chop. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
$1000 if you deliver.
|
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
man, people be broke!
several choice SVXs, some other with smokin' prices, and nobody has money to pick them up. damn. if they get chopped up before people get some spending cash... they won't be available for folks to buy later. |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Bump.
Rust free SVX, 6 speed trans, tons of spare parts, extra set of wheels, factory manuals for let's say... $5000. Sitting here waiting for you! |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
4500 or 3500+trade
Would more pictures or anything help or is there just no interest? |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
Oh, there is interest...
There is just no MONEY! If I had the cash, I'd be all-over this car, but broke is the state I live in. (not really broke, I have most things paid off, and minimum mortgage debt, but after the bills get paid, I have no discretionary money to spend. I've not seen a raise in 2 years, not even cost of living increase, and am lucky to still have a job at this point... but my buying power has been sliding for years now, and my spouse has been laid off, and bumping from job to job, which cut out a lot, too.) That is why I hate to hear about all these cars up for sale on a timetable, with scrapping being the alternative. Times are tight for people to buy anything, including additional cars... but if things get easier again, scrapped cars will be gone by then. But I understand that parts are worth some money, too... |
Re: FS: 6-Speed 92 Subaru SVX
There's no question I could get more for it by parting it out, but I don't have the time/space to do it right now. I have to move very soon... I need the car gone but being situated on an island in canada isn't making things easy for me...
