Sorry,
Wish I could help. We should start some sort of SVX relief fund, like the red cross, to help fellow SVXers in need. Especially in bad times of tranny woes, and the dreaded attack of the "Roaring Lions." (aka wheel bearings), etc. |

i agree that is a bad idea.
of course i was just kidding. it is a shame when someone does not have the money to keep their svx running, but unfortunately that is none of my business. our jobs as friends and fellow svx lovers is to try and save one another as much money as possible with how-tos and overall good advice. thanks anyway cola and grinch.....i mean mr. pockets. ;)

Don't worry. I understand LarryIII has some connections to some nice folks who's job is to loan money to worthy enterprises. Go to Larry's briefcase & click on "Cousin Vinny".
Good luck, Ron. |

Unless they're doing the rear crank seal, I don't see how there's 6+ hours of work there. Timing belt + front cam seals + front crank seal = 3 hours. What else are they doing? Hmmm... Tennessee... How far are you away from Beav? I'm sure he'll do it for $500 labour... No? :) VK |

Are you computing that in US or Canadian $ ? Larry III:cool: |
I was not being serious when I posted that.
I can't believe it came up as a serious discussion, over there or anywhere. |
Re: Re: Re: anyone got $600 they can loan me......
What's the difference?
You pay $80/hour dealer shop rate. USD. I pay $80/hour dealer shop rate. CDN. :p Of course, my trusty non-dealer mechanic charges me $60/hour. CDN. So there. VK Quote:

The difference?
1CDN does not equal 1USD more like .66USD. 80USD for service would be more like $120CDN |

Don't the Canadians earn the same amount? What is the starting (fresh out the college) compuer related job bring you in Canada? In the US, it's around 55k ish. Lwin |

desktop - $20,000 CDN programmer - $30,000 CDN systems admin $40,000 CDN Here in Denver: desktop - $40,000 US programmer - $45,000 US systems admin - $55,000 US Well worth the move. :) Ryan |
Cocacola: Point was, that we pay much less to repair a car here. Current exchange rate is 0.625USD to 1CDN.
Nvrmore: Boy, Calgarians are willing to work for cheap... Out here, you'd be hard pressed to find a programmer for $30kCDN. Hell, when I was on Co-Op in 95 at Proctor and Gamble, I was paid $26kCDN as a programmer analyst trainee, and I was only in 1st year. A good programmer out of university in Toronto or Ottawa should be able to fetch $40k+. I know guys graduated and got their first jobs at Corel or Deloitte, and was paid $45k+. Computer field technicians are $35k+expenses for entry level. MCSE w/experience generally fetch $45k+, although with too many MCSE's that know squat all, it's no longer worth quite as much. My brother's on contract as a system admin at TD. With an EE degree and two years experience, he should be well over $75k by now. Factor in the MUCH lower living expenses here (it's like all the numbers are the same, just the currency is different), it may not be as worthwhile to move south of the border. I had several in depth discussions with folks that have worked in the U.S., and the general consensus is that if you are single, go for it, if you are married, don't do it. Everything in the U.S. is pay-per-use, where as here it's all part of the package. Case and point: winter hockey for the kids = $1500CDN for the season, to belong in a leaque, whereas if you tried it in Texas, it'd be at least 5x that. There was an article a year back in the Toronto Star that talked about a couple with kids that was making $90k/year, and Nortel offered a job for the husband in San Diego for $90kUSD. They moved, wife decided not to work, and they ended up saving less than when they made $90kCDN here, after paying property taxes, schooling related expenses, healthcare, etc... My 2 depreciated cents worth. VK |
