I must admit - Burgundy is my favorite colour on an SVX (followed closely by Charcoal Grey!:D)

Would you believe - this SVX was the very next SVX to be produced after my Charcoal Grey one - it's VIN number is 1 higher!

Jason.

Jason. I am very pleased that you purchased THAT SVX.

I saw it advertised and thought it was a BEAUTY!!!

Exactly the same as mine!!! Even the headlight covers...

This car appeared to be very, very nice and low km's.

AWESOME.

Well done.

Re: I must be insane.......

I actually saw that and didn't buy it because it looked red, instead of Burgundy.

Shame that no-one realised the quiet addition to my signature line a few weeks ago...

:D

Looks good. It makes me miss driving my old maroony red and black SVX

Re: I must be insane.......

That is a hot SVX.

I wish that combo was available in the US... The color looks nice, and similar to my Garnet Red Legacy...

and I always love the black roof/trunk, especially with tint. Looks fantastic over the dark red with the darker silver wheels.

That is an amazing coincidence that those two cars that were consecutive on the line, are now consecutive in your driveway!

Nice purchase.

Re: I must be insane.......

Likewise Jason. Smashing purchase. Congratulations.

We call that colour Ruby Mica. For certain it was not available in the USA, and I've never seen a native one in England, only on Japanese imports.

We know of one that was last stationed in Germany but was originally registered in Switzerland. So they at least sold them in continental Europe. And Australia, lucky gits. :p

It may actually be the same colour as Garnet; the code for it is 247 so you could check your code and see if there is a similarity. It dates from '89 and I've seen the code 047 for it also.

Re: I must be insane.......

Thanks for the correction. The Network actually does not have any record or copies of brochures that came originally from NZ.

Do forgive us if we seem to lump you in with Australia, but that will be because we have no real data on sales material from NZ to go on.

I noticed, but what could I say? Sadly, wives are no longer considered possessions over here. Can't keep em, can't sell em, but the color on yours is nice :)

Not at all - I just can't find one!

There have been plenty of 2WD series 1 Vortexes around - but I have not found a single series 2, turbo, 4WD, 4EAT Vortex in good condition!

.....thankfully, SVXs don't rust like Vortexes do - and they are MUCH nicer to drive!!

Harvey - the colour code is 947.

Jason.

Thanks Jason

That code actually makes sense in light of what we have derived from SVX colour codes.

Most of the colour codes with 2 at the start originated for the 1992 model year. Colours with 4 at the start were for the 1994 model year change.

This code on your car being 947 is correct taking into account that the colour was in use for other Subaru models in 1989, before the SVX was released.

92 seams to be a vintage year that obviously appeals to you!

great find - drop by and give us look

- oh - and none of this keeping them in garages and not using them either - the SVX is a great a car and it should be against the law not to be driven

That makes sense, My 95, (11/94), Bordeaux Pearl's No is 448.
This SVX collecting trend, is spreading like a virus. :)

It's a disease I'd rather have, you know. The cure is much worse than living with the symptoms.

I am yet to line up the two Burgundy cars and check paint codes. There is a little bit of cosmetic damage to the recent arrival, but assuming the paint codes are the same and they are in the same basic state we'll get them repaired together (the first burgundy had a bad repair on a driver side door scrape, as has the second!)

Oh, and way to go, Jason! Sorry I was so busy trying to break in on your celebratory thread that I forgot to give you some credit!

By the way, I also have a 'want' list guys, it's in my sig. Check regularly to see if it updates, but I'm in need of a fair bit of stuff. Pretty please with cherry on top!

Harvey it's a rule that seems to apply for paints used between 88 and 98 or 99. Round about 2000 they seem to be using a different code system for new paint codes.

However it does seem to work for paints used over the period the SVX was made.

Joe :)

Re: I must be insane.......

Well done!

There is a good chance that I may have some info on the car, since I saw a LOT over the time that I was looking and kept notes on them all. VIN, rego, or owner etc - sad I know!

Anyways, drop me a PM and I can try and dig out the 'provenance' as they like to call it

svxistentialist 02-12-2010 02:45 PM

Re: I must be insane.......

James it would be much appreciated if you could dig out your old information and pass it on.

Paul [paddles] is compiling all the information on Australian and NZ held SVXes. We are trying to get a full register of all cars from all members. The information you collected during your Flying Camry Interceptor years of insanity would be priceless.

:D ;)

Joe :)
