Pretty Impressed....

Hello people, i was on my way home after the gym. I came across few people. 4 people including myself, we were sitting at the light and well, you know the rest. The cars as follows. Gallant VR4 turbo awd stick, 240SX with a skyline engine, new Chevy silverado, and 1st gen eclipse turbo awd. Well all of us took of at the light, out of all the people i can 2nd, the 240sx was first and wasn't far behind was me by 2 cars. Me and the Eclipse and the Galant was neck to neck. And the silverado was left far behind. I am pretty inpressed. Thats my story. I know racing is bad, i was tempted.....

Chiketkd 10-06-2005 06:55 AM

Agreed. Racing is best kept for the track... :)

Those DSM drivers don't know how to drive then. My stock 2G Talon launches twice as hard as my SVX ever did.

How do you know the 240SX had a Skyline engine in it? That may be the only way I'll ever get my dream powerplant.....

I beat the lock

TomsSVX 10-06-2005 01:29 PM

um... yeah right. Stock SVX has no balls off the line. You may have been able to beat out the Chevy pickup but you would get owned by a stock 1g DSM no less a mosified one, and the vr4 galant would do the same slaughter on the svx. Don't act like the car is fast. Turbo awd mitsus are some of the best car to just throw around because they make power and they are light, our cars.... well lets just say they are not

Yeah our cars arent fast off the line. Too heavy. On the highway is another story though :D

Very true. I know several lightly modded DSM's and Galant VR4's that can cut a 1.6-1.7 60ft off the line at the dragstrip on street tires. Fastest 60ft I've ever seen on an SVX is by TomsSVX who's cut a 2.0 off the line with his 4.11 geared 5spd. Fastest for an automatic is a 2.1 which I cut with my 4.44 geared SVX.

Tom

That would be sweet...or even getting the very first 1.9 60ft by an SVX!!!!

My best is a 2.133...would be nice to run a 2.0! :)

TomsSVX 10-07-2005 08:46 AM

didn't Poweredx2 have a 60' under 2.0?? I think someone else has done it since some have been running faster times than myself. Did Phil ever pull it off?? That would be very cool to place the fastest 60' time

Poweredx2 on his 13.32 run used slicks on his fwd SVX and got a 2.06 60ft time:

Phil when he went 14.59 got a 2.17 60ft time:

Whats the average time with the stock tranny on the SVX on the 1/4 mile?
Whats the 1/4 time time with the 4.44 swap?
Whats the stock tranny 60 foot time?
Whats the 4.44 swap 60 foot time?

Which is faster. FWD SVX or AWD.... I know what the answer is but just wana make sure. I know the awd launches and the the fwd slippages.

It really depends on the driver and the weight of the SVX (awd L and LS models are lighter than awd LS-L and LSi models)

On the stock 3.55 gears, I've seen a 2.2 60ft time and a best 1/4 mile run of 15.37 @ 89.6mph by Bwana. Most driver's on stock gears run between 15.6-16.5 with a 2.3-2.4 60ft time.

On 4.44 gears, I have the fastest time thus far. I got a 2.13 60ft time on my way to a 15.06 @ 91.2mph.

-Chike

P.S. The fwd SVX puts down more power to the wheels (less driveline loss) but is much easier to spin the tires off the lines.

TomsSVX 10-07-2005 10:07 AM

cool so as of right now I already hold the fastest 60' time of any svx...except maybe the racer and the svrex. That is something I did not know...hopefully we will go out and get some runs in in a week or two when my bro is ready to run the s4.

Tom

Correct. The SVXrex and Racer probably could easily cut sub 2.0 60ft times, but they're not street legal cars and weigh around 2,700-2,800lbs. I wasn't even counting Poweredx2's 60ft as he used slicks, but you were able to still outgun him on street tires!

It's just an amazing sight to watch a 3,000lb DSM cut a 1.6-1.7 60ft on small 205 sized street tires. Those things just hook up and scoot!!!!

Wait! I thought I got under 2.0 on one run, just not my best time?....I'm gonna have to dig through my slips to find out.

There was just something about taking that racer down the track.........wow!

Dig that slip up Jesse!!!! :)

It'll be awesome to see a sub 2.0 60ft time on a street legal SVX!!!

Subafreak 10-07-2005 07:39 PM

Eh...maybe I just dreamt that? Looks like my best was 2.078. But I did look over 28 slips to find it. And that doesn't include all of them!! Thats alot of tranny abuse! :D

That is a lot of tranny abuse! :p But with cooler temps, you should head back to the track this Fall for some more once you fix your car. :)

Looks like TomsSVX's 2.005 60ft is the fastest by a street driven SVX.

-Chike

TomsSVX 10-07-2005 07:43 PM

what else is a tranny for?? I think they make them just so they will break...

yeah, u commin?? You can always stop halfway home at my place and crash for the night. I wouldn't mind some company and it is the most satisfying drive when I get to listen to your exhaust driving behind you :)

I got dusted by a first gen Talon the other day. Felt good.

I looked at my car.

Yup.

That's luxury comfort in 2.4 seconds.
