Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
Ron (NeedForSpeed) and I were discussing "proper" direction of the OEM wheels; Left vs Right; Forward or Backward, whatever, and it occured to me to query the membership with a related issue. Is it only our "quirky" manufacturer that has ever manufactured Left and Right wheels?:lol:

Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
Mnay of the early Hondas (1985-2001) had directional wheels. Click HERE
And while many directional wheels can be used on either side in pairs, the SVX is the only wheel I have come across where the correct direction is provided (Evidenced by the "L" cast into the left-side wheel and nothing on the right-side wheel) . |
Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
Thank you, Sir! I shouldn't be surprised you would be able to satisfy my curiosity. I guess the mystery remains regarding the Subaru brochure showing the wheel mounted "backwards".

Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
1993-1997 Probe GT (two different directional designs, one swept, the other not.)
similar era Dodge Stealth RT I am sure there are others, as well. FC RX7, Pontiac Grand Prix, T-bird SC, and others used swept-spoke wheels, but I am not sure if they are directional, or if the passenger side just sweeps the other direction. :D |
Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
Toyota Previa, Honda Prelude....
I'll go out and check, but I'm pretty sure my friend's '00 Prelude has an L or R cast into the wheels. |
Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
I am sitting here looking at a late model Porsche 911 parked across the street with foward facing ninja stye wheels. Wish the bolt pattern was the same.

Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
First-generation (early '90s) Infiniti M30's, and I think G20's too had directional wheels. 1990-91 Honda Prelude SI, 1987-'90 Acura Legend Coupe also. (Just thinking about cars that I've owned or worked closely with.)

Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
I've got a set of swept forward Eagle Talon wheels on my daughters Claret for winter. Passenger side is swept backwards. Very similar looking to the SVX.

Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
My former CRX Si, and my former Prelude Si had directional wheels, lefts, and rights.
some cars out there have directional wheels, but the lefts are identical to the rights, so in my book, that is wrong. |
Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??

If Subaru can do it for official photos, how can we complain  |
Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
I know the "pumper" wheels on 80's and early 90's Chryslers (like the Daytona and Shadow) were directional as well.

Re: Any Other "Uni-Directional" Wheels??
many late 80's-90's corvettes had directional wheels AND DIFFERENT WHEEL SIZES FRONT TO BACK !!!
thus yielding tire-rotations requiring all 4 be dismounted and re-mounted again.... |
