Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

Thanks,

I'm just waiting for the weather to allow OT to do some good performance testing. I expect once some people start chipping their TCU's they will be so thrilled their feedback will inspire more and more to do the same.

If you need more input, I daily drive my SVX and would love to help out :) . I also plan on getting a TCU chip from you in the coming month.

Are these available to the general public yet? I'm going on a 3000 mile trip in about a month, so some more MPG would be handy.

if you don't care about a printed label on it ..if you order a stage 1v5 from the website and put a note to make it the aggressive one I'll do it.

Has anyone tested the new av1 with a manual transmission?

Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

Label doesn't matter....now just so I can test my reading skills...the switch takes it from 1v5 to 1av1 is that right?

I currently have 1v5 so would I order at the upgrade price, or do I need the full price version?

And finally..if I got the ECUtune TCU to go with this, where would you recommend setting the max rpm shift point in the TCU?

Thanks again.

Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

At current the aggressive timing tables are used in both versions of software housed in the memory adaptor of Stage1Av1. The version in the default location has the new fuel table. The version in the 2nd location that can be switched to if an spst switch is installed has the 1v5 fuel table.

Is your memory adaptor one of my newer ones that has 1 ROM or one of my older ones with 2 ROMs (ROMs are the chips with the printed ecutune labels)?

If you don't have cams I would suggest sticking with the OE rev limits for your full throttle shifts. It's easy to change later if and when you get cams.

Here's the details of when I bought my 1v5. Best I can remember it was only one chip that I installed, and it came with a wire for attaching the switch to run the 87 programming. I can go dig it out of the car if needed, but we all know how much fun that is....

Qty Item Options Price
1 SVX Stage One $219.00 USD
Amount $219.00 USD

2007 would be the old style with 2 ROMs. It's one memory adaptor but it has two ROMs on it. Since you're getting a tcu too just order the the 1v5 upgrade ROMs off the website when you order the tcu and include a note to make it a stage1av1. I'll send you a complete one on a new style memory adaptor and trust you to return the old one. Just make sure you actually return it to me. I keep getting screwed by network members :( but I can trust you.

Ok. Ordering right now:D

TCU w/ 6500rpm shifts
1av1 upgrade

I'll let you know the MPG results after the Dragon trip which will give 2800 miles of testing.

Thanks for being one of the few crazy enough to support the SVX.

Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

New TCU and ECU upgrade installed today, along with new plugs.

So far..so good. The TCU upgrade is great, and the engine is running a lot smoother than it seemed to before. It just works now like the SVX should have from the beginning.

What happens to the mileage should be interesting to see now...

One question about the 12v wire. When it is not hooked up it is 1a1 and if it is hooked up it is 1v5?

Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

Both tunes on the current alpha of Stage1av1 use the aggressive timing. The fuel map in the version that runs by default is the new one. The fuel map in the version that runs if you send +v to the memory adaptor is the 1v5 fuel map (which has proved very knock resistant).

Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

I've modified the coolant temp thresholds for the radiator fans in the new beta of stage1av1.

The coolant threshold to kick the fans on when the ac is turned off or to increase the fan rpm if the ac is turned on has been decreased from 95c/203F to 85c/185F.

The threshold to turn them back off if the ac is turned off or decrease their rpm if the ac is turned on has been decreased from 89c/192F to 80c/176F. This is the same temp that the thermostat fully opens.

This modification should maintain coolant temp between 176F and 185F.

Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

I kicked the cooling up another step in the new beta.

I lowered the vehicle speed thresholds for the fan rpm increases. The thresholds used to be 20km/h for the increase and 10km/h for the decrease. I lowered them to 10km/h for the increase and 2km/h for the decrease. This will keep your fans spinning faster while you roll in work traffic.

I also lowered the threshold for the overheat mode. It used to be 110 celcius (230F) to kick into overheat mode and 105 celcius to drop back out. I dropped them down to 221F to kick into overheat mode and 212F to drop back out.

While all of these changes to the fan control parameters are designed for performance benefits and to keep race cars from running so close to overheating they are bound to they will also probably stop cars with bad head gaskets from overheating.

Do the same changes from 1v5 and 2v7 carry over for the 5 speed owners?

Re: New for Christmas 08 Stage1Av1

Yes they do.
