I think the longer USDM console was to accommodate the seatbelts in the early models with the passive seatbelt system. The lap belt was anchored under the center console. Later years it seems they just kept the design.

The long console goes all the way to the rear seat, making a four-seater, and, as mentioned, houses the passive seatbelt spools.

The short console allows for five passengers, in Japan, the SVX has a rear center belt. Add the rear center belt to the list, if not on it.

If anyone has pics of the items on the first page, or better pics then those listed, it would be appreciated. Short Console added to list. Better pic would be appreciated.

It's weird that US members think that's a rarity...it's the only way they came in Australia.

Notice the hole for the IR in the handle. Quick question, do all SVXs have the ring around the keyhole that lights up?:confused:

A couple pics...
One of the Radio controls on the steering wheel, and one of the JDM stereo

To install it in a USDM you have to:

Accept you will no longer have an airbag

You'll need the following to make it work:
JDM Steering wheel with the Radio Controls
Matching "Clock Spring" (the wiring harness that attaches the steering wheel the the column)
And a JDM Stereo
and would be best to have the steering column covers off a matching column, but can be made to work with the USDM ones

As for installation.
You have to swap in the JDM Clock Spring harness, and install the Steering wheel, (will have to space it out 1/8" to use the USDM column covers) and install a JDM stereo and a Frequency Converter to pick up US stations.
