Hi everybody,

I am new here and what a great forum this is. I bought my SVX 3 weeks ago and got a lot of usefull information from your site. It was first put on the road here in Switzerland on March 1998 and has only 40.000 Kms (25.000 miles) on the clock. As it is a 1994 model year, I guess it served as a show-room car and/or demonstrator for some years. Condition is as new as you might expect with this low mileage. It is an AWD in bordeaux pearl with VIN:
JFI CXW LEO RG 005149.

Cheers form Geneva, brit-tic:)

Hi there brit-tic. You are welcome to the Network. :)

You are a lucky dude to find such a low miles SVX, I'm really looking forward to seeing your pictures. ;)

BTW, just for your interest Bordeaux Pearl was available in the USA in 1994, but was only available in Japan in July 1995, and I think the Rest of the World only got the all-over colours [no black roof] for the years 95 to 97. So your car could have been built in 94 for the 95 Europe market. It may be a year younger than you think, registration wise.
Or I could be wrong. It happens.

Does the brit part of your forum name intimate you are a Brit? If so, it would be wonderful if you could find out from the dealer or main distributor how many cars Switzerland got in total. Switzerland is one of the markets where our records are incomplete.

Joe :)

Hi everybody,

I just posted the following to the European Forum:

According to the following link:

http://homepage.bluewin.ch/svx/index.html

951 SVX were sold in Switzerland. This is a high number but Switzerland has always been a "Subaru-Country" because of Mountains and a lot of snow. According to the same link, approx 2/3 were sold in the first year of production -1992- and then sales dropped dramatically. This is probably true as most of the used SVX for sale are either put on the road in 1992 or 1993. A quick look on "www.autoscout24.ch" confirms this a of the 13 SVX for sale, there are 9 from 1992 and 1993. As similar picture can be found for Germany:
"www.mobile.de" were 11 out of 23 are either from 1992 or 1993.

According to the VIN-code my SVX is a 1994 model year. It has a black roof and blach rear deck (photos to follow). There were only 4 wheel drives ever imported to Switzerland, most of them with socalled "Swiss-pack" which stands basically for full-options. I cannot think of anything that is not im my car (sunroof, heated leather seats, the driver one electrically adjustable, cruise control, audio system with 12 CD charger, etc. etc).

No, I am not british, I am Swiss (nobody is perfect...) Brit-tic is a hint to my passion of britsh classic cars...

Cheers for now,

Brit-tic

Thank you for that information. It will be very helpful in determining the total picture of SVX sales. You are a valuable member already!

That's very interesting. I for one have never before seen a Bordeaux car with a black roof, but the black roof does indeed pin your car down as a '94.

Could I please ask you to confirm a little more detail? What is the paint code for your car? It will be shown on the plate on one for the suspension turrets under the bonnet. [I'm saying bonnet as you are a fan of Brit sports cars! ;)]
If you could give details of your paint code and option code and applied model number, that all would be useful. Thanks.
[Cars with a black roof and purple paint have always been Claret, that purple paint code is 265. Bordeaux on the other hand is a lighter colour, has always come as one colour all over, no black roof, and the Bordeaux code is 487.]

Hey Joe,

I will check this. Never seen or heard the word "claret" before and just looked it up in the dixionnary: this is translated as "wine red" or "bordeaux red" so my guess is that both colors are quite similar (?). Will revert.

Cheers,

Brit-tic

Thanks Brit-tic. We refer to the actual colour codes in order to determine which exact colour is in question.

There is a reason for this; the Subaru marketing wing in different countries will tend to use different names for the same colour. So colour 265 could be Claret in the USA, while the English market might call it Wine Red and the Swiss market might refer to it as Burgundy Pearl. Sometimes I think they make them up as they go along.

So the safest thing is to refer to the colour codes.

Joe :)

Hello,

Now, here are the various codes:

Trim code: 420
Color code: 487
Model code: CXWCL 7E
Option code: DK

Does this tell you something? I am still puzzled that it is a 1994 model althought it was put on the road in March 1998 with a delivery mileage of 450 Kilometers.

Cheers,

brit-tic

Hey,

Somebody mentioned in the thread "who has the lowest mileage car" that mine (above) is a 1995 Switzerland model. Any evidence as according to the VIN it is a 1994. What do the codes (above) I was asked to send do tell you?
Here the VIN again: JF1 CXW LEORGO 05149. Would be nice to get an answer when you ask to send in more details

Thanks, Brit-tic

Re: 94 Svx

Apologies on the slow reply Brit-tic. :)

The reason for the lack of reply is not that we are keeping the info to ourselves. It is because we do not as yet have enough information to be definitive as regards what these codes mean.

Have a look at the thread I started to try and collate enough information to give us an idea what these codes may mean:

VIN codes information

If you read both pages you will see that a few international people have responded with the information. As yet the survey sample is too small in size to draw reliable conclusions.

So your SVX still has 450 km on it? If not, how many km are on it? :)

Hey Joe,

no worries. I am not very well in using IT stuff. Here some additional infos for your vin-identification:

First, option code is DK not BL as you filled in.

It hase cruise, driver and passenger AB, ABS, sunroof, 12CD charger in the boot and heated front seats (both driver and passenger). Driver seat is electrically adjusable. As to interior specification, there are a lot of words I do not understand in English. Best is I make some photos and post it (hopefully over the weekend). As to Earl's question: 450 Kms was the deliverage mileage back in 1998. Today it has 41500 Kms, that is approx 26000 miles.

Cheers,

brit-tic
