Nothing drastic, 3 of the shocks 'looked'damp - but no obvious leaks, the brake junction block at the rear the brake pipes showing signs of corrosion, handbrake cable sticking a bit, nothing major!

Stuff 2 look into b4 next time! lol

You're right, nothing there to worry about. You can take your time and fix them at leisure. Jammy swine!!! :D

Further to the ongoing problem of my car's suspension woes. I rang my Subaru dealer yesterday to get a quote for a replacement N/S Lower Control Arm Assembly and they came back with a price of £341.73 incl VAT. Pricey for what it is but being Subaru I was expecting it. Plus it comes with both bushes already installed so at least there's no need to pay extra for those.

Thought I'd better get the bushes for the O/S Lower Control Arm while I was at it as they're quite tired looking as well. But I was shocked (though I shouldn't have been  ) when the man there told me that the bushes are not available separately, I would have to spend a further £341.73 for a complete LCA Assy to replace my tired ones.

That really hacks me off. I love my SVX but Subaru (UK) really take the pee. The equivalent US-spec part is £236 including shipping to the UK though of course as soon as it hits the shores of Blighty you get stung yet again for import duties. It really gives me the hump.

This may be a long shot, but you could try finding some aftermarket bushes.

Bushes for Impreza/Legacy etc.

Generic Bushes

http://www.gmt.gb.com/gmt-productrange.html

I had a similar problem with our Justy, trying to get a bush that Subaru didn't make anymore.

I found a generic rubber bush manufacturer who had something similar. They sent me a free sample which I planned to machine slightly to fit.

But then I got an email from a guy in Belgium who had exactly the right bushes. It turns out that the bush used on the Justy is also used by Volkswagen.

Nice one Phil, well spotted. We'll have to get this one put up in the general FAQ and How-to section. Coil failure is a common cause of bad running.

And by the side; one of the guys in the US has a byline that goes:

"You can tell the quality of a job by the absence of creases in the duct-tape"

;) :D

Top quality work, my man!!!:)

LOL, Cheers, well it certainly drives nicer now! Still hasn't helped the fuel consumption though! :( & that's why she's gonna have to go i think! Getting 20mpg going to work & back!

I found another little thing that might be of interest to you all!
Take a look in my personal locker 'Cheap Octane Booster' I think you'll all be surprised! LOL It works & is perfectly safe!

Phil ;)
