You don't need anything. Take a look at your stock exhaust...that will answer your question for you.

That's the correct format for the connection between the muffler and the center pipe. There is a special band-clamp and donut gasket that holds the pieces together. The OEM band clamp and donut gasket should be reusable.

Resonator looks like a high quality "Glasspack" take a look inside:

Big DUH moment on my part. I think it's off to go install the Stebro.

YAY! Installed... needed to buy some harware and re-tap and dye my "C" clamp. But all in all went well. Also put some royal purple in the diffs and engine.

Were you kinda disappointed when it wasn't as loud as you thought it would be? From the opinions on here, I expected it to be "Armageddon is upon us" loud, but it was just kinda... $900 worth of farty. ?

I like the sound. It brings out a decent note without sounding gay like a V8 domestic or gay like a CRX with a coffee can. (Don't mean to offend anyone with my word choice)

Earthworm 03-03-2006 07:16 AM

The sound is deeper without the center cat. Mine's about as loud as I'd ever want it to be.

One time, at band clamp......

....couldn't resist!

It sounds as if most of the installation hardware is reusable, that's good news. My '96 gets the install tonight or tomorrow.

Penetrating Oil is a must!!! I sheered off the bolts from the center pipe to cat. Also you might want to get a bolt and nut to use on the "Bolt on" muffler hanger.

Did you remove that center cat? I liked the note your exhaust had, but mine does not sounds like that.

wynndi 03-03-2006 07:54 PM

If you do remove the center cat, in a Stebro setup, what do you replace it with?

AFBeefcake 03-03-2006 08:13 PM

The Stebro Euro Resonator, but I don't think it would work with a odb2 svx.

Which is another $425

Earthworm 03-06-2006 10:19 AM

I didn't remove it. I just beat the stuffing out of it. :)
