It is more likely that the oil has come from the inlet manifold, through the crankcase ventilation system.

Okay I want to know. How does the oil get into the crankcase ventilation system?

I will take a guess... The PCV valve would be working well, manifold vacuum would be high and the oil flow into the crank case would be high. Is this when the rings are not seated properly when the engine is cold? Lots of compression makes oil blow by past the rings?

How about a high oil level and the oil is getting pulled up the oil separator into the intake?

Is there any place oil can leak into the intake manifold?

The positive crankcase ventilation system pulls oil fumes into the intake for combustion, rather than allowing them escape into the atmosphere. This was one of the first "pollution control" devices installed on cars; even my '68 Mustang had a PCV valve, as well as a separate rubber hose leading from the breather cap to the air filter housing. This is how oil gets into the intake.

If your car isn't using an inordinate amount of oil or billowing blue smoke out the tailpipes, a little oil in the intake probably isn't a problem.
