Did you get a genuine Subaru windshield? The ones that cost a $1000? Or did you get one of the aftermarket ones that go for more like $300?

I know that there has to be at least support for a vehicle for ten years after it is discontinued but I believe it has been increased to 15 years, I believe I recall that law changing within the last 10 years, whether or not this would have been retroactive is beyond me.

There is a Chinese company that sells them for about $300 I believe... don't know if they have the tint or titanium oxide coating... They don't come with the gasket that you get with the OEM ones.

Re: Parts availability: How near is the end?

They come with the tint, but do NOT have the protective coating, thus being as cheap as they are.

All this talk about parts becoming harder to get is upsetting. I decided today to get off my lazy a** and do something about it. Even tho it was below 20 this morning I managed to get me one of these for a spare.

It's too bad things aren't like they used to be. A car went to the junkyard and sat until it was unrecognizable, now after 6 months straight to the crusher to make room for more.

Hey, that answers a question I had. Will an EG33 easily fit in the back of an Outback? And also a green one at that.
That one looks pretty complete.

It's complete, any pilfering that was done was by me:D I plan on getting everything I can off this SVX. I have nowhere to store a parts car but plenty of room for parts.

Now that is interesting - put the engine in the back and use the front as a boot - very ala Porsche......... would be a bit loud though, or do you just turn the radio up?

OK, you want your SVX to last.
I understand.:)
So go buy the parts that you know that you are going to need!
Buy a crankshaft pulley,
some antisway bar bushings,
some ball joints,
some rear wheel bearings and seals,
gasket kits,
hood struts,
radiator hoses,
a couple of radiators,
a driveshaft,
a crate of axles,
a pallet of CD players...
cam seals,
crank seals,
timing belts,
brake pads,
rotors,
calipers,
inner tie rod ends,
outer tie rod ends,
an extra 3.3,
some water pumps,

and your garage will look like mine.:o

I wonder abbout that too... was doing some research on the GM EV1 and one of the many reasons they did not sell them after the lease was because they still would have to supply parts for 15 years after and did not want to for the small number of 800 or so cars they made.
