I agree though, bras are more trouble then they're worth. If you don't follow a pretty strict cleaning regime (including removing and cleaning every time you wash the car) they can do more harm then good. Plus they never improve the looks of a car. I'd rather just get a touch up on the bumper and hood every 5-10 years. Depends where you drive though I guess, my car has 213K and still doesn't have enough chips that it's even noticeable. |
Re: What were they thinking???
I've seen alot worse.

The L models don't have ABS in 94. |
Re: What were they thinking???
Yuk - I hate Bras (on cars) - ran with mine for a week about 10 years ago, took it off to wash car, only to find that the leading edge of the bonnet paint had gone through to the undercoat!!!.
($200 later it was fixed like new again) So now I only put mine on for shows, it sits in the box all the other days. Steve (1 OF 1) |

Now you have my interest up if there is anyone out there that has a L model ("3" in 7th VIN position) without ABS I would like to hear about it. ;) Lee |

I've done extensive research on this. The LE model designates it has having one airbag and passive seatbelts. :) |

I will wait for someone to come up with an L model that did not have ABS. :) Lee |
Re: What were they thinking???
Good grief. I have a 1994 that was FWD, without ABS, 1 airbag, autoseat belts and no sunroof. I'll get my VIN tonight and we can decode it and see if its an L, LE, or LS.
Then I can fix my signiture line to be accurate. |

Re: What were they thinking???
OK according to this site. http://www.cars101.com/subaru_svx.ht...4%20SVX%20Info I have an L. LS came with ABS. There was no LE in 94.

Kely's Blue Book, also, only lists models as L, LS, and LSi. |

Second, the Subaru Service Manual AND Parts Manuals list an LE and is shown in the VIN interpretation charts in the manuals. I am looking at my 94 Supplement to the Service Manual (Subaru published of course) and if there is a "2" in the 7th VIN position it is an LE or a "3" in that position indicates an L model. Continuing---starting in 94 a "3" in the 8th position indicates Single SRS airbag and passive constraint and a "5" in that position indicates Dual SRS airbags and manual belts. Lee |
Re: What were they thinking???
I agree that there is an LE for 94.
I will say firsthand that I have seen multiple 94 L models without ABS, one being the parts car we kept the front clip from. As for details of these L's Ive seen, one was Laguna Blue, and the other three were Barcelona Red. |
Re: What were they thinking???
I have another question that arises from this discussion and maybe it leads to something different than I have always thought.
WAS the belt system AND dual airbags actually a time of year change OR really associated with models ONLY. Soooooo---next question---does anyone have a 94 L, LS model with ONLY one airbag and passive constraint (automatic) belts? I have always thought this was a production change during the year that was not model related, but....... I have been wrong a couple times over the years. :p Lee |
