92/K SVX (93k)

Phil,

No I didn't know that. That's fantastic news, no more having to slog my way to Swindon or Botley for parts. When are they going live as a Subaru dealer?

Glenn

The 4EAT as a sacrificial burnt offering?

[Sorry, Phil, sorry Belha]

Hi Glenn, I've only had mine since the begining of the month, only driven it twice so far, been trying 2 solve the overheating problem, going 2 my brother's in pompey on thurs 2 pull the engine & do the head gaskets! :(

So hopefully, be back on monday with a 'rippin' svx! lol

Phil.

P.S. I think the colour's Claret on a 92/K, with gold std wheels!

Notall There 09-21-2004 03:13 PM

Oh, & not sure when Pentons is opening Subaru? Was in the Journal last week!

Phil.

I hope the engine work goes well and I look forward to seeing it on my travels round town. Is your brother clued up on SVXs or will this be his first?

Mine is in serious need of some TLC right now too. Apart from the steering pull which I'm sure is something serious, the engine is running lumpy and I'm not happy with the braking. I feel a wallet bashing session approaching. :(

I'll swing by on my travels and see when they're ready for business. Mind you, I bet their prices will be typically OTT as is Subaru's way.

Oooops! Got it wrong, it's Olympian that have got subaru!

It'll be his 1st svx 2! So we're all in the dark here! lol
Did a rebuild on my GT4 a few years back, so i'm not afraid 2 get stuck into stuff!

We'll wait & see if i live 2 regret this 1?

Phil.

The Monzta 09-22-2004 04:04 PM

Olympian? Where are they in Salisbury? What car brand do they currently support? I just can't place them.

Good luck with the head job, keep us up to speed with how it's going mate. :) Personally, I have the mechanical talents of a blind baboon with tennis elbow so have to rely on the skills of (expensive) professionals. :(

Olympian Renault down on churchfields!

Engine's out! (What a pig of a job!) Head's are off! (Don't look too bad, gonna get them skimmed in the morning, just a light skim to clean them up!)

Then we'll get it back together!

Well, i could be ur new best friend then glenn! lol I have the facilities to do most jobs, & if not my brother in pompey has (where i am now!)!

Phil :D

Ahhh Churchfields, that must be where my wife's company get their company cars from. I didn't know there was a Renault there just Ford and Audi.

My mate co-owns the Mercedes-Benz repair shop at Churchfields. If you ever want a fantastic quality repair or paint job done, you gotta see their workmanship.

Any chance of posting some pics of the engine out and head job being done. I'd be interested to see what the engine looks like 'naked'. :D

You're definitely my new best buddy if you and your brother can fix SVX's. :D

I don't know how well kitted out your brother is but if you ever need it, the guy that works on my car has all the gucci diagnostic devices that he plugs into the car to download the error codes and all that other white man's magic.

Oooh, before I forget, whilst the engine's out can you tell me where the two knock sensors plug into. I can see the one at the front of the engine but am led to believe a second sits somewhere at the back.

I work nearly next to MG Cannons! I'm at Edwards Commercials at the mo, just working my notice! Then off to 4x4 services in alderbury!

I got loads of pics, will put them up when i've finished!

I'll look for the knock sensors, i think that they are both on the top of the engine under the inlet manifold; 1 on each bank, 1 slightly further back than the other, Will check it & take a pic for you!

Phil.

Update: Heads are on, Cams are in, & cambelt is on so far!!! :)

Hahaha, the world just gets smaller yet again. My mate Dave along with two of his workmates bought MG Cannon off of Mike Cannon in January. Last year the front suspension on my Opel Monza collapsed after the inner wings rusted through. I got a number of quotes for repair all around the £1000 - £1800 bracket. MG Cannon ended up doing the repair, they spent 27 hours labour on it and they did a superb job........all for £600. :D

I look forward to seeing the photos Phil. Actually, that reminds me, I must put the pictures up of my car with its new wheels.

Does replacing the knock sensors look like it's going to be the usual SVX bugger of a job? Can it be done whithout having to shift loads of bits out of the way?

Look's like you're going to be finished with the engine back in before the end of the weekend. Looking forward to seeing the snaps.

Glenn
