IMHO if you can drive 90 minutes to a reputable repair shop, I would do it. If they are recommended by someone on this network, you know they know what they are doing and you won't get ripped off. I drive 2 hrs to have YT ( Tomssvx/ AWD Inc) work on my car because he came highly recommended by others on this network. As long as my car can "Limp Mode" the 2 hrs, I will always try to have him fix it. So if you can make it the 90 minutes, take it to the reputable repair shop. You won't be dissapointed.

Given that one of the responses suggested a price of ~$60 for a remanufactured half-shaft, a price of $1475 seems somewhat too high.

Man your gonna cry because OT just did mine for:

New front axles are 69.88 each plus tax and $35.00 each to install(plus tax).

I drove over 2 hours to get to his place. I must fest up though i had other work done also...........Tom is Cumberland Md which wouldn't help you but maybe you can purchase the parts from him.\

Thanks everybody!

As to LIC motorsports shop in Novato: I called them on Friday to check whether they work on SVX. The person who answered was not able to tell that, they promised to call me back. I am still to receive that call :(

And, I am not sure if the car will do 90 miles even in Limp mode. It seems that the CV breakage was progressing rapidly - so when I was picking her up, it made the noise with even slight left turn. So I decided to fix at least that breakage. Fortunately, the shop was flexible on the price.

Probably, next time I'll try to contact LIC motorspors again to do some tune-ups.
