It's official, its due time to have our second Midwest Meet. The Meet orginated in Rockford, IL...so my first assumption would be to keep it there. Please post email address's and available dates soo that we can try to accomodate as many people as possible.

I am most likely going to say early June, that way it is the start of summer for most people, and may not interrupt any possible family vacations. Does this sound alright??

Also I was just thinking, If the 93's were 25th Anniversary editions SVXs..then this year would be the 35th Anniversary :p

I can do it the first and last two weekends of June. Second weekend in June (13th?) is out I think. Early July is open too.

Rockford is, after all, second only to Las Vegas in being the entertainment capital of the world, right? :D

I've been searching the internet for some cruise-ins that maybe we could 'spoil'. ;) Haven't found any for that weekend yet, though. When I was a boy (not that anything radical has changed in that regard you understand), we would spend Friday and Saturday nights cruising up and down the downtown area of Waukegan, usually ending up at Dog 'N Suds or A&W or some similar location. I was wondering if there was a place like that, that we could invade for the evening on Friday? Also, the local Auto Zone and Southern Indiana Tire stores (et al), have meets on their property at times throughout the summer (during regular store hours, too.). Some of them even provide door prizes, etc. You might suggest to one of those places that we're looking for a place to 'shine 'em up' for the day.

I know a possible perfect dining area to invade, Beef a Roo, kinda a fast food style restaurant, usually have some car nights, also a few auto part places do have cars take up most of there property to have a show..ill see what i can come up with/do once i get home for the summer in 3 weeks

The Midwest SVX Meet is the Same weekend as the NJ SVX Beach Meet.
The NJ SVX Meet is a 2 hr. drive The Midwest SVX Meet is a 12+ hr. drive.

I would much rather go to the NJ Beach Meet. It's a lot closer, easier to get to and will be a lot less expensive.
The problem is that I don't know if the NJ Beach Meet will actually happen. I need to know by mid-May so I can make plans either way.

Rosie agrees with me.

We are not like Earthworm. We wont't drive 30+ hrs. to get to a meet.

Dude, you really need to work on your priorities. I mean, chances are this won't be your cousin's only wedding. Just hit the next one. After all, getting a chance to meet me (oh yeah, and maybe a couple of other SVX enthusiasts ) is just not something you'll want to pass up.

sorry been busy dealing with insurance claim....someone backed into my car during finals 1100 worth of damage..ive had to do everything via phone and to top it off when i was moving out i had 1000 worth of stuff stolen...so ive had to file reports etc etc making a couple trips back to school. Tomorrow after i get off work, I will hit up all the neighboring hotels and try to find the best rates etc and all the info will be posted by sat night at the latest. sorry everyone for the delay

ive scoped out 3 hotels in the area The Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, and Sleep Inn. I will most likely check out a few more tomorrow.

Sleep Inn- they have 10 rooms at the moment group price $79.95 plus tax plus they have free broadband, breakfast etc...they told me primarily king beds

Holiday Inn-$95.00 plus tax this is rate only...I will hav to set it up which will take roughly 1 week, then you can call and pick your room

Hampton Inn-$89 plus tax Any King type room, plus they have 4 smoking and non smoking that hvae sofa sleepers also.

the hampton inn was the most formal and curteous to me, i was given a brochure and the most information. The brochure will be scanned and in my locker this evening


Let me know what you all want..and i will get it all set up hopefully this weekend or by the first couple days next week.

Call your agent. That is why they are paid commissions. I don't know about IL, but in Wisconsin, the insurance company is required by law to let you take your car where you want for the repairs.

When I was hit, I called my agent every day asking for a status report. I never talked to the guilty party's insurance. When they called, I said "call my agent at 262-252-xxxx, thank you and have a nice day".

I told my agent I had an appointment to get it fixed where I wanted and here is the shop manager's phone number.

They will try and intimidate you into believing that they are in charge. They are not and the state's insurance commissioner's office does follow up on every consumer complaint against insurance companies. The state makes lots of money off of fining Insurance companies.

I agree with doug on this. I too have been in a similear situation and insurance company does have to allow you to fix your car at what ever location you want. In my case, I asked for one of the best places in chicago land and they totalled my car right away. I got the car back for 100 bucks and I made about 800 bucks on the car (bought car for 800 and got 1450 from insurance and sold it to someone else for 300 bucks)

So we meet at the Comfort Inn, do lunch locally, where we'll decide on dinner, or whatever we'll do in the p. If the weather's nice we could go to a local beach? (Caravan to Madison and back?, heh.)

Who's up for Great America (?) on Saturday? Those who are only coming on that day could meet us there. Or not.

Its getting down the the 11th hour on this Rockford meet. Without Lwin and Michael's leadership and initiative on this event we seem to be afloat in a sea of confusion.

Therefore I am proposing a possible postponement of this Friday and Saturday's activities. What do you think?

As an alternative we can postpone until the weekend of July 11 -12 and have the meet in Waukegan (mine and Waison's old stomping grounds) the reason I am suggesting Waukegan (while its no prettier than Rockford) is that on the weekend of July 11-12 we have what is called "Scoop the Loop" its a weekend where the Midwest's (and beyond) car nuts amass to oogle and race each other's cars. They have bands, dances, refreshments and what is called "open scooping" While the "scooping" is limited to show cars, muscle cars and antiques, I think "open scooping" is, well, open. Scoop the Loop draws a pretty big crowd, according to the website they had over 40k people the last few years. though I think that is a bit exaggerated. I'm sure we could scoop as well though we'd probably be booed as heretics for driving late model Japanese cars (and Subarus no less!) but I'm sure there will be more than a few riced up Hondas and Mitsus there too. Other things to do afterwards would be Six Flags is about 15 minutes away, the largest outlet mall in the world (supposedly), lots of places to stay for the night and places to eat and the lakefront beaches.

I admit as a 30 year resident of this town I have never been involved with nor been a part of "Scooping" so I really have no idea of what to expect. I'm just throwing it out there as an alternative to this last minute Rockford meet. If we were to do it here I guess I'd have no alternative but to volunteer my services to get it together since I am a "native" (Waisons, as a former Waukeganite you'd help too right?:D :D).

Honestly I have no plans on stealing anyone's thunder. I'd much rather just go to Rockford and not have to worry about the responsibity of putting something like this together. As I write this I think of how wise it is to volunteer for something like this. But I'd really want to go to a meet and I'd love to see some "SVX representin'" going on especially at a fairly high profile event.

I REALLY wanted to go but since its Friday and we have not yet settled on a place in Rockford or a time to meet, I have no choice but to officially pull out of this. I'm sure you're all disappointed:D

I don't want to drive all the way out to Rockford not knowing where to go or at what time we're meeting. Please let me know when the the next one will be I will be therw as long as we have a meeting place confirmed at least a day in advance.

My wife and I were looking forward to this SVX weekend since I met a bunch of great people at the 10th Anniv meet last year and I wanted her to have the same experience. I was also looking forward to getting reacquainted with some of the group. However, it is now 10:10PM Friday night and I don't know where to meet or what is going on, so......maybe next year we'll try again. :(
Maybe we can get a small Barbeque together like last year at Colin's place.

I have no idea what is going on at all. I am STILL in the middle of the job hunting thing and my SVX is still dead. :( No one updated me on the meet info so I have no clue either. Also, I have been really busy as well (family issues with my brother back from college for summer and such) so IF there is a meet someone call me and let me know.

I'm not even sure the meet is happening.
If there is enough interest (only takes a few though) I'll do the cookout thing again.
I like the cookout format. Just a friendly get together talking SVX or whatever, a couple of cold ones and good old montybrats.:) :)

Yes - I suggested this in my post last night when it looked like the Rockford meet wouldn't happen.
I hope I wasn't too presumptious, Colin, but I'm glad to hear you would be up for it. My wife and I would be glad to bring "goodies". I couldn't attend last summer and heard that those who did had a great time based on Lwin's comments and pictures.
Perhaps later in July would be good for all. I just couldn't make it the weekend of the Oshkosh air show since I always go up there for that.

I'd like to be able to say I'd be up for another meet, but there's some smoothing-out to do here at home now.

Wife: Is we IS, or is we AIN'T going to Rockford for this thing?

Me: Uh. Heheh. Truth is, heh, I don't really know. But I'll be back to you as soon as I hear something. (Ulp.)

Sad to say I could not make it for the meet this weekend. Too many things going on. Would of been perfect cause I had relatives in Shaumberg close to Rockford I could of stayed with. I did however install my B & M transmission cooler and external transmission filter. I also finally got my rusted oxygen sensors off as well, with good amount of PB Blaster Penerating Oil. I am impressed that stuff really works. I am going to order some Bosch Oxygen Sensors.:)

To all who were hopeful for Rockford...

I know we'd all love to hear if the meet actually did take place... but I'm beginning to doubt it.

Anyway, check the thread about the Aviation-Themed SVX Meet I'm planning in October... it's also in Illinois and I'll be managing to this one seriously. I really want to get a good Midwest meet off the ground, and so I figured October will give people plenty of time. The actual date IS flexible, so please post discussion over there as to what works and what doesn't... let's see if we can make this a good one :)
