is there something i can get at Pepboys or local parts store to use for the gasket between the 3rd cat and the center pipe/resonator, or is it a specialized part? don't know nuthin' about gaskets. they don't have the gasket at any local dealers, but they have one at a dealer that's pretty far away, so if i could avoid the trip all the way out there.... thanks for any help!!!

The gasket is a tapered cone shape. The inner diameter matches the diameter of the exhaust system. The end (facing the rear of the car) of the exhaust that bolts to the center section is flared so that as the bolts are tightened is pulls the cone into the tapered tube and makes it seal. The part is about $14 from subaruparts.com
Theoretically you could buy the right gasket material and make your own... just flat flange surface to flat flange surface. (say that fast ten times!)
