Elezar took a quick spin on my windey road tonight before we loaded The Racer onto the trailer and delivered it to The Polish Mountain Hillclimb in Flintstone Maryland.:D
I was really moved just watching The Racer run down the road!
E will have an in car camera running when he goes up the mountain.
Wish him well, and if you can, come on out, Saturday and Sunday!

Well, day one is in the bag. Other than a minor suspension adjustment being needed, the day was relatively uneventful......that's a good thing. After several clean runs with decent times the car is not in the woods and it's all in one piece still, so it was a good day.
Tomorrow I'll start whittling my times down.

Huge thanks to OT for letting me drive and for all the preparation on the car.

It stopped just an inch from the guardrail and not a scratch :eek:
Several others went in the woods at this corner so driving away from a mishap there is an accomplishment by itself!!!

Yes it did sound really good expecially the echoing through the hills after the first corner.

Felt really good too. It was just kind of an 'off' weekend for me. I was a couple seconds slower than last year and I had a bad feeling that trying to beat that would end very badly. Then I spun it with a bad downshift and after that I just wasn't focused enough to do anything but crash so I quit a little early on Sunday while it was still in one piece.

I got through the event and a satisfactory signature on my permit so now get my license. That was really the goal.

How'd you end up in your class? What else ran in your class this year?

Since it is an odd car and not listed in any class under the SCCA GCR, and because it hasn't had a proper annual tech yet which might help with proper class placement, it just runs in the Special class that just includes 'everything else'. Special is divided into S1, S2, and S3 based purely on displacement......no restrictions on anything else.

Either we need to gather the info and get it teched to be classed more favorably or accept placement in Special and go all out, no limits, to be competitive!!
Much more lightening, brakes, more refined suspension, blower, well designed aero package so it doesn't float away!!! Many, Many more $$$

FYI - I've got a call into the SCCA rules folks to see what they have to say on this topic. Ben and Dave formally petitioned the SCCA to get the Racecar classified as an FP car for autocross. Seems to me that there should be some hillclimbing class that ties back to FP for autocross. Stay tuned.
