A 19 year old dream has been realised today
I think I got the right one, this time the search lasted almost 3 years. I looked at 5 different ones in varying condition.
I found this one at a local Subaru dealer.
Its had 2 owners, I will be the third and last
Its spent the last 10 years as strictly a summer driver and was driven roughly 7,000 klm per year. Absolutely maintained to the strictess standards by its last owner
It is mechanically sound, very little rust and absolutely everything works, down to the power antenna.
It is everything I hoped it would be and more.
I feel extremely lucky and my search was made easier by reading the posts of members here.

Thanks to all
You played a big part in making this dream a reality

I notice it is a 92 but there is no pin striping.

I'm wondering if it has been in an accident or was just repainted the original color? Or did they just not put stripes on everything?

Pin striping?
They did not come from the factory with pin striping.

I think mine did. :S

Mine also has those door and fender guards that most of you don't, though... must have been some dealer option.

Of the many I have looked at over the years I have never seen any with pin-striping
Having driven it for 2 1/2 days now, I'm amazed at how mechanically sound it is
Broke all the rules and pushed it up to 150 kph yesterday and cruised for a short time at 140 kph on the 401. It was fantasictic. No shakes, no rattles, no shimmies. In fact, I don't think I have ever hit 150 in anything I have owned over the years that didn't feel like it was unhappy going that speed.
My son-in-law (mechanic and restoration specialist) upon driving it said it doesn't run, it doesn't sound and it doesn't handle like a 19 year old survivor.

So far, it has matched and exceeded all expectation.
The only thing it wants is a new sound system.
I learned quickly how thirsty it can be. 94 Octane gas is readily available here and goes about $1.35 per litre

Really? Not even on Legacys and Outbacks? I see the exact same striping all the time on different models. Very strange.

The SVX did not come with the stripes, but were added by the Dealer. Others have had them added. They did not come standard. :o

Was checking Kijijiji today, the Pearly isn't there anymore

I'm going to look at the so-called parts car on Saturday, he is asking $1500, if its not too messed up I might consider offering a few hundred. Luckily I have a place to store a parts car

Whats the Friday night Durham meet??

And, just curious, why do you want to part with your Spec B? I've often thought when the time is up for my Outback, I'd try and pick up an 07 or 08 Spec B wagon for my primary driver

I had an 06 Legacy sedan and really enjoyed driving it, the gf totalled it in a head on. It was a nasty one, the EMS guys said the car saved her life.

oh. there's a meet in durham region on friday nights. near champlain and thickson - timmies at 7pm. if you are not part of the toronto subaru club, you should join. i'm in there as well. obviously i'm not here much anymore because i dont have an SVX anymore.

i've tried to part with the spec b before i got laid off from my job: the payments are killing me now.

i think it was a mistake trading in my two SVX's as a down payment for the spec b.

and i dont believe there is such a thing as a spec b wagon in north america.

Quite right on the Spec B wagon, looked at 2008 2.5GT wagon tonight, more out of curiousity than anything else. Seemed it had a lot of the Spec B goodies.

I also had occassion to stop by Scarboro Subaru this AM. Seems both your cars are still there. The Pearlie is being parted out, its been seriously cannibalized and the rust is eating her away. Your Ebony is owned by one of the mechanics. It is one very cool car and its easy to understand why you'd want her back. Hope you don't get all melancholy on us. They know their SVX there, the sales manager drives a 92 liquid silver

Took your advise and signed up to the TSC. If the forum is half as good as this one it will be useful

Thanx for the tip

i'ts actually the warranty manager that owns the black 6mt/dccd SVX that i had. he jumped on it as soon as i was negotiating how much/little they were going to give me for the two cars - low ballers
and a sales guy from the suzuki side owns the liquid silver SVX that you've been seeing

and the other "blue" one in oshawa is the C&C subaru owner's daughter's car.
i think it used to be black or silver.

i think we can classify ourselves as svx stalkers :P

The black one has had the rear deck spoiler, the power antenna and rear wiper removed. Sure gives it a different look. Saw the JDM emblem on the hood.

That guy on the Suzuki side is the sales manager for both brands. He said the car came from Ottawa. His is very stock. He actually sort of offered it to me when I bought the Dark Teal. I think his plan was if I wanted his, he would take the Teal.

They were all still seriously whining about how good a deal they gave me. During the negotiations, the owner got into a real shouting match with me, I thought it would come to blows, he actualy followed me out to my car as I was trying to walk away, screaming at me all the way. He still can't look at me.

i would say the owner of scarboro subaru admitted to stereotyping/discrimination because of the way i looked during the negotiations. i had long hair back then

as for the jdm Alcyone emblem - i bought that from here on a group buy. i figured it would have really suited the black car - the idea was to try to buy the jdm rear centre light to make it completely unknown (as for company badging)

You wanna talk about stalking?

Yesterday was like a day like no other, as I was driving home from the office, I came upon two on the road. I thought "How strange is that" you might go a year without seeing one on the road

I passed a liquid silver on Royal York going the other way.

Then a guy in a red one pulled up along side me on the Lakeshore, He made a left onto Islington and I scooted around the block to try and catch him. He had parked so I parked across from him and got out and asked some questions, He was a little freaked at first. Really didn't know the significance of what he was driving. Said it had been in his family since new, I took down the details and have posted them in registrations

He said they are probably going to sell it. I gave him my car and told him to call me. The car is excellent, only 118,000 KLM

Now thats stalking!

That guy (the owner) is a maniac

I toyed with them for 3 weeks from mid January to early February. Each time I walked away from their best offer, I'd tell them that if they didn't sell it to me they would have to send it to auction and probably soon. I gave them all my card told them to call me when they did and I'd go to the auction and pick it up for $800. They'd reply that it will be "as is where is" not certified. I'd reply "You think I'm worried? I've driven the car twice, I know it doesn't need much" They'd all whince and then I'd remind them that my son-in-law was mechanic and it wouldn't cost me much to get whatever it needed done.

The day I picked it up, the owner didn't come out of his office.

They never had a chance
