I couldn't take it anymore, I broke down and bought a few bits for the SVX:

03 WRX HU
SVXdc Plug & Play wiring harness
Polk Audio db6501 6 1/2 component fronts
Polk Audio db691 6x9 rear

I may purchase an AMP a bit later (per Crutchfields recommendation) but I dont want to get too crazy. I never have luck with car audio as they always seem to get nicked.

Pics to follow once the parts arrive.:D:D

I have a set of polk momo speakers front/back courtesy of the previous owner. I added a 8in polk db sub. All powered by 2 refurb deal Sony amps.

On the whole, I'm really impressed with the speakers, as they cost far more than my budget would have been. I'm also quite happy with my little 8 inch sub. I've always felt like smaller subs sound more precise or something. I don't listen to it super loud, so the one is plenty. Only complaints I have are that the amps are big, one takes up the whole back of the back seats and the other dominates a big section of the trunk. Also the box I built is kinda big and takes up a lot of space too. But I didn't get the svx to carry stuff around.

If anyone wants some advice with wiring up the speakers in the svx, lemme know, I learned some tricks from how mine is set up. For one thing, they did it without using a wiring harness. Ran new wires straight from the head unit to the speakers.

How big and expensive are polk/momo amps? I'd kind of like to get a set to match the speakers if they fit better in the trunk and aren't really expensive.

I got all the new speakers mounted tonight. Sorry no pics... I caught a nasty cold and didnt feel like taking time to snap off some pics. I will get some of the tweets I installed in the stock location... thats easy! LOL

Anyway if and when my WRX HU ever arrives I am curious how to connect the crossover to the front component speakers. Here is my crazy half-baked plan:

Using the adapter harness, cut the wires between the WRX radio and SVX connector for the front speakers/tweeters (if they have separate wires). Attach the radio side wires to the input of the crossover and the "woofer" side to the 6 1/2's. Then, if there are separate wires for the stock tweets, connect them to the "tweeter" wires on the SVX side form the crossover. If not I will have to run dedicated wires from the new tweets. I was thinking of zip tieing the crossovers up under the dash somewhere or even in the center console.

Seems simple enough? LOL I hope so! Why go this route? I really dont feel like trying to run dedicated speaker wire into the doors since the stock wires are already in place.

OEM radios (and all aftermarket ones I've seen) have four speaker outputs.

In the SVX, the tweeters are wired in parallel, splitting off from the front speaker wiring behind the dash -- "downstrream" from the radio harness.

Read my install guide for more info.

Are you talking about a passive crossover as in a unit that separates the signal for the front speakers into the high for the tweeters and the low for the woofers in the door? If so, here's how it's set up in my car:
left side: The stock wiring takes the signal to a 4-channel amp in the trunk. The output from the amp goes back to the wiring where the head unit is and connects to the original wire that used to lead to the speaker in the door. Instead of attaching directly to the speaker, it connects to the crossover, which chills there taped inside the door. The woofer is right there, so it's wired up easily. The tweeter is trickier. The wires from the tweeter run down into the door, where they connect to the crossover. I'm sure that this was a PITA for whoever did it, since you have to run the wires through that little bendy rubber tube that connects the door electricals to the rest of the car.

The right side is similar, except that the line from the amp to the crossover doesn't use the stock wiring at all; I ran new wiring because there was a short or something and the amp would go into "protect" mode whenever you turned the volume up too high. Had to use a coat hanger and my whole arsenal of 4-letter words to get the wires into the door.

I would advise to either be careful not to mess up any existing wiring, or just bypass it altogether with wires that go through safe places. Because I have an airbag light occasionally, which is intermittent, probably to a short or something. Guess where the airbag unit is? Right up under the head unit, where there are tons of "bonus wires" and other junk left behind by whoever originally installed the original system. Electrical tape does NOT cover all sins. Do it right or at least don't f*** it up too.

So there is a factory AMP as well? Since I bought the car the rear speakers are very quiet and the R/F speaker is exceptionally loud like 98% of the power was going to it. I have to adjust the bias on the HU to compensate. I was thinking the HU was faulty but now you mention an AMP!

No, SVXs did not have a separate amp. Only what's built into the stock radio.

So there isnt an external AMP? Thats good because I was planning to run all new wires or attempt to by-pass it. I like less work! :)

No there is no external amp, I was talking about the amp I have mounted in the trunk.

Well I finally got everything buttoned up!!!! I set the passive crossovers to 0db (+3 was too much and -3 was way too little) and tucked them under the dash. I am very impressed with Polk speakers!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wish I had a decent head unit and very clean AMP to do them justice. I recommend 100%.

BTW cutting the adapter harness to add in the crossovers worked perfect! All I had to do was run wires to the tweets and that was probably the easiest part of the entire installation.

****NOTE****

Crutchfield stated the 6x9 weren't a direct fit on the rear parcel shelf but couldnt tell me why. Well I know now, you muct oblong all the mounting holes on the speakers or drill new ones. I decided to oblong the holes. No biggie.

Now I need a small part... I broke one of the screw cover plates. Its the one on the pass side door that hides the screw under the door handle. Its got an "L" shape to it. It was cold and the trim piece was too brittle. Anyone have a spare? Color doesnt matter since I am going to paint all the "wood" trim piano black.

No one has the trim piece?
