So I'm curious, there are quite a few hoses that are connected to the stock intake. If I were to run two separate intakes what hoses would need to be connected to what?? also, would it be more beneficial to do this than to just do a single intake like the tomyx???

There'd be some benefit only if you felt the engine wasn't getting enough air with the current set up. Plumbed right, you could get some ram air effect at higher speeds.

I could be wrong here since its been a while since I've owned an SVX with an complete engine bay, but I was thinking there's nothing connected to the accordian pipe except the MAF. If thats true then you just run one pipe to each throttle body, put a filter on the end and stick them where you want em. Again I havn't seen one in a while so Im not sure, but if nothings on the accordian pipe, which I can't think of anything that would be before the throttle bodies, then whats on the intake manifold shouldn't make a difference.. right?

Well, there are the seven hoses that attach to the bottom of the plastic bit right off the throttle bodies... :)

The question is, what would the benefit of dual intake lines be?

Twice the surface area of the filters to pull air in through... I am still working on finishing my twin intake set up the only thing I had to do was put a small K&N air filter directly on my IAC. So there are zero hoses running to either intake pipe...

This can still be done with a larger single filter, which is much smaller than a whole additional intake line and second filter.

Just to know, how much additional filtering surface is necessary?

the flow will be much smoother to each TB and I am running two of the biggest cone filters available from Green Filter.

Wow, theres 7? What do people with the Tomyx intake do about that?

They are all there.

Now with the lines you could simply get some vent filters, Just put the biggest on the line into one of the intake tubes, this is the idle air controller. The rest you could simply put some crank case breather filters on.

so what did you use to make the nipples on the new intake? Is it better to be closer to the tb or does it matter? So if I understand you correctly I just need the one nipple for the idle air on one of the two and the rest I put the mini filters on. For these mini filters, will it make a difference if they are name brand ones or can I get just any old ones that they sell at checker or whatever. It seems like the K&N are quite pricier.

Any one have a fact based or numbers based opinion on K&N vs green I already have one green filter, I'd like them to match so I could either get one more green or buy two K&N.

Sorry to be negative on this one... but unless twin F/I is being considered, I think the benefit of going dual intake vs Tomyx design is going to be trivial at best... your butt-meter might feel "zomg" but otherwise... you will have a rough time routing the driver's side intake with Fuel lines, Relays, Battery in the way... and then you got to worry about symmetry too...

Not routing it all the way to the fenderwell.. I am keeping it short and sweet, literally. Each of my intakes will have about 7" of intake piping total. If I were to decide to change it and route the intake into the fenderwell then it is very possible as I already tac'd one together that did that. I just want the intake length as short as possible....
