Just throwing a "feeler" out there....

I will probably be in the San Jose area the weekend before Thanksgiving through the weekend after.

I'm actually driving down though so taking into conisderation travel time on the weekends, the best weekend day for me would probably be Sunday, November 22nd. But I'd be open to anything during the week too (except Thursday of course).

As usual, I don't know the area so if someone local has ideas chime in. Really hoping to finally see some of the active members in this area get together. Even if we don't do a big drive or anything, at least get together in a parking lot and kick tires, maybe grab a bite to eat. That's how we started out here in the Northwest many years ago. :)

San Jose is a six-hour drive for me, but I just might try it. Nobody out here seems to have the enthusiasm for the SVX that northerners have. A month or so ago, I was coming back from an excursion to the Riverside Raceway Museum when I noticed another pearlie ahead of me on the I-10. I honked, pulled alongside, and the rather attractive lady driving never gave any indication that she even noticed my car. She turned off somewhere in the San Gabriel Valley. Very frustrating.

I feel your pain Paul, same thing has happened to me more than once up here too. :( Fortunately, we've always managed to have decent sized group up here around Seattle, though other than a few of us the group has constantly changed over the years.

Really hoping to capture some of that when we move to San Jose (by this time next year if according to the wife's plan).

As for November, really hoping a few from the SF Bay area chime in and help me get something interesting going. :)

If not though, I'd certainly not want you to drive 6 hours both ways just to have a cup of coffee with me - I won't even have my SVX with me. :o

I'm really hoping "something" can come together though. If not, rest assured that once I'm living there I'll be trying for some "halfway between" events. And if that STILL doesn't work, at the very least I'll join in on some Alfa club events, if SVXes are still welcome. ;)

I would love to come up, except that I probably wont have the funds by november. I could easily make an excuse to get up there from orange county, since my brother lives in SF. So maybe the next time you're coming down we can arrange something.....

Troy, sorry I haven't had time to get on the forum in the past few days. The only thing that would make it work for me is that my best friend (for the past 53 years!) is on the faculty of San Francisco State, and I can always stay with him in the City. Finances are also a problem, since most of my clients have cut out freelancers for the "duration" of the recession. Bah Humbug!

Sounds good Paul, well except for the finances part. :(

I think what I may do soon is try sending out some PMs. I'm thinking a lot of folks just don't come down here to the regional forums and see these threads.

Worth a try anyway. :o

Troy,
Sorry I missed your birthday, hope it was a happy one. Is the Thanksgiving event still on? What's happening?

Thanks Paul.

Yeah, I'd still like to do something, and now it's confirmed that our family will be driving down and staying weekend-to-weekend at the end of November (not in the SVX unfortunately).

Been trying to organize our 8th Annual Fall Colors Tour up here in WA too, which will be Nov 14th, so busy busy.

Need to get on PMing the CA members to see if that can strike up any interest.

I'm quite disappointed that our Bay Area people are so quiet on this one

That's going to be my birthday, so I'll be away that weekend... I hope some more of us from the Bay are able to make something work out! :D

Don't think this is going to work out - again. :(

I'm uninspired by the lack of enthusiasm, but at the same time, I also don't have a lot of time to put into this as I have my own SVX event up here in Seattle the weekend before to work on:

Anyone of course is free to drive up to that one! :D Seriously!

I might give it another go next trip down there when I have more time to try to dig members up with PM's, etc...

Sorry Troy, but the Thanksgiving holiday is very difficult to arrange anything around, at least for me, as we'll be entertaining family b4 and after, and driving 300+ miles to pick up Pa-in-Law and deliver him back home after. Don't want anyone to think we're not up for a get together though.

Hi Troy,
I've been off the forum for a while, so I didn't catch the latest posts. I was hoping to do the trip, but it looks like I won't be able to make it. The financial situation is just too tight. things will be better next month, but that's no help for now. Damm, I was looking forward to meeting you. Oh well, there's always next year. I know a great collector's garage halfway between San Jose and San Francisco, if I can make it, perhaps when you move down, we can visit. He has some Bugattis, Cadillac 16s, an Alfa 8C 2900, little things like that.
Have a great thanksgiving,
Paul

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Paul!

I'll give this another go next time, and/or also watch what you guys get going down there and see if I can coordinate one of our trips with a meet.

And of course, market conditions pending, we might be putting our house on the market in spring and see how it all goes......

9 a.m. in northern Santa Rosa - an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge - Subaru meet and drive event. Spirited driving, some back roads, some twisties, and lunch.
