What size speakers go in the front doors? Thet appear like they should be 6x8s, but I'm reading about 6.5s here, and when I opened the doors, there were some crappy 5.25s inside.
What do I need to get for this car?

Joe, most folks remove the stockers and mounting plate, and fit adapters made of MDF or comparable material to the opening and use 6 1/2" speakers. The rears are 6X9s.

I used 6 1/2" but you had to drill new holes never had a mounting plate.

I put polk audio speakers in the front, back and front tweeters. I spent a total of $300 for all the speakers and it sounds better than i could ever ask. I got them at circuit city. Most people think i have a sub in the trunk but its just the 6x9's in the back.
Ps. I'm an audiophile so you know sounding good is good :D

I just put 6.5" Pioneers in mine. They were dirt cheap. On sale for $29 at Future Shop in Canada. I am very happy with them. They are a nice complement to the original 6X9s in the back that put out a fair amount of bass. I took out the original bracket, cut out the original speaker, drilled holes and put the new speakers into the pot and it worked great.

I believe 6-1/2 or 6-3/4 will fit.

No i bought the tweeters seperately.
I have 6x9's in the back 6.5's (i believe?) in the front tweeters on the dash and a mid level jvc head unit and it sounds better than i could imagine.
And im quite picky with my sound quality... :D

i've got polk db series in both the front and back. 6 1/2 components up front and 6x9 in the rear deck. they fit with no issues and sound great. i did have to make mdf adaptors for the front and enlarge the holes on the back

Back in the day, I had aluma-pro (sp) components installed. I had issues with depth clearance and the shop suggested those. they were best 6.5 inchers I have ever heard.
