Well this must be a record for Denver....but I managed to see 4 different SVX's yesterday, all within the 5 miles around my work.

Anyone part of this club?

They were:

forest green
silver/grey
black
claret/black (like mine)

I think the guy in the Claret one was dumbfounded that someone else had the same car as him. He didn't seem all that pleased for some reason. Oh well. :)

This is not humanly possible. I'm not sure that I've seen four SVXs on the road in the last *year.*

Sigh. ;*)

I'm serious! Maybe I just work in SVX central. :) I've seen the grey/silver (not sure which its supposed to be) quite a few times, and the green one as well. They are pretty noticeable due to the tint they both have. First time I've seen a black one though, or another claret for that matter. Maybe its a convention I didn't hear about. :)

<<I've seen the grey/silver (not sure which its supposed to be)>>

Ryan,
The correct "name" for that color (according to the brochure) is "Liquid Silver." If it has a black top, it's a '92 and the only year it was offered (unlike Pearl -- '92 & '94).

Never, ever refer to a "serious" SVX owner's car as "Hunter Green." It would be "Dark Teal" in '92, Emerald Pearl in '94 or "Polo Green" in 95-97. Black's "official" name is "Ebony Pearl" in all years.

I won't get into the big story about the change in color names from the Service Manual to the Showroom. If you're terribly curious, you can do a search on the Message Archives. Just one interesting tidbit, however. Your "Claret" was known as "Dark Red Mica" in the Service manual. :D

Were you an interior decorator at one point?? ;) Maybe a fushia would go better than the mouve.... :D

No, worse . . . Marketing! That's what happened to the colors. "Marketing" thought "Ebony Pearl" "Dark Teal" "Pearl" "Liquid Silver" "Claret" sounded better than "Black Mica" "Peacock Blue" "White Mica" "Silver Mica" and "Dark Red Mica" respectively.

Of course, if I'd had my 'druthers, I'd have thrown in a puce with a light chartreuse interior :D

There are many on this board who've met me. They can attest to the amount of feminine qualities I exhibit. :D

Can't remember the artist or the year, but, the title is "The Ballad of Ben Gay."

ADDENDUM: Further research revealed the artist as "Ben Gay and the Silly Savages" the year: 1974

DING DING DING! You advance to the next round DJ dood! But I think it's thilly thavages! "Thilly thavage, do you want ben gay all over you?"

Damn we used to laugh at that as we were patroling the city! (I used to be a poleece explorer and got to ride with the cops). Cops pull funny pranks too! They'd take the extra set of keys to someones partol car and while they were in eatin a donut or having some coffee or something they'd unlock the car and turn up all the radios and then turn on the wipers and top lights, sirens, and anything else that might come on with the key...then sit in a secluded place and watch the guy freak out at 4:00 am. ;)

Let me know if you can get them.
Also looking for early Paul Anka hits that he recorded in Italian

Oh, I dunno 'bout that, the last time I drank with a woman who'd down ouzo or whiskey like you, she had a beard and deeper voice than mine... NH where the men are men and the women are too.

Eddycatt...

I used to be a paramedic, and we'd play a few jokes on the newbies. While on a break or getting coffe, we'd attach a length of IV tubing to the winshield washer pump, and run it up the a-pillar, and set the tip just out of the visor. A little spritz of baby powder on the windshield... and.... when the newbie got in the rig, and tried to clean his windshield all of a sudden his shirt would turn a spotty pale shade of blue!

That's a good one! One thanksgiving a friend of mine took me to his family's house in Frannie, Wyoming. And once we'd had enough of the festivities with the old folks we went to a little bar that happened to be open. We were the only customers, and the bartender was there of course. There was this "moose call" hanging on the wall, and my friends cousin asked the bartender how it sounded. The bartender being a nice guy asked if he'd like to try it. This guy said sure! He didn't notice that the output end of the horn pointed right at his face. The bartender told him he'd have to blow extra hard to get it to sound right. So he did! The thing was filled with water! I nearly peed my pants I was laffing so hard.

I've tried various times over the years to replicate one of those, but they just don't look right, this was an actual musical instrument someone had modified, a trumpet or something.:D

The marketing folks would likely call it "Lemondrop Pearl." I would call it . . . . AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

As for the 45's, the one's I have in my collection are mostly from the early-middle 70's. The 45 supply has kinda dried up, however, there's a used record store in Louisville, KY that might have some. Next time I'm up there, I'll check it out.

For the life of me, I can understand what my Aunt Beulah was doing in New Hampshire. :D

The original posting talked of four SVX's. I am pleased to report that we had four SVX's (me ('97 Red), my youngest son ('94 FWD Blue), Olu - SVXIT ('92 White/Black top), and Jack ('97 Red) ) at our second autocross of the season this past Sunday. A great time was had by all with all SVX's running strongly. Unfortunately, a 2000 VW GTI finished first in G Stock by beating me by 1/1000 of a second - things are tight in autocross. But last month I beat him by a full 1 and 1/2 sec - go figure. But the main thing was that we had fun, and in the rain too.
