Just shipped a 92 Liquid Sv. 92 Touring LSL to Tom from Ca.
We had discussed the proposed work, and it was all agreeable.
He got the car, and took pics before he let the driver unload it. I thought that was pretty cool. It was a sign to come of how detail conscious he was to become.
he gave me a window of a week, and proceeded to do the work. he gave me email progress reports all along the way. Also very cool. I'd never had that happen before. The main reason I wanted to ship it to Tom was because of a popping rumbling noise in the suspension. Two Ca. mechanics told me to just turn the radio up.I knew I'd never get a nights sleep until that problem was solved.
Tom started on it, and at a certain point, became stumped. He has the kind of set up where he has access to used parts. He stuck with it, and eventually solved the problem after a late night or two. I was visualizing his shop during that time as if he had his own TV show like Orange County Choppers or such.
On the last day before promised delivery, he called, and told me he had it fixed. I was really pleased ,and knew I' had made the right chioce to ship it 3000 miles to someone I had not even met. The other nice thing he did was give me his WRX Cd changer, instead of slowing things down, and waiting for a new one.
Great experience all around. he delivered it after a 155mile drive at 25 MPG on the highway. Also pretty pleased. He told me I had a fine example of that model, and that I had picked a nice car.Got lucky this one time.
Thanks for everything Tom
Steve

Flattery will get you nowhere:lol::lol: I am very glad you like the car as much as much as we did. Just try to keep NY off the underside of that CA SVX in the winters:)

It was nice meeting you. I am glad you are enjoying the car.

By the way, All We'll Drive is a joint venture, so if you have any questions and are unable to reach Tom, you can contact myself as well.

He's an SVX mechanic, along with his partner Mike in NJ, near Atlantic City
Look for mike's response to me, and you can get his email address
Couldn't discern from your email if you really did not know about him, or you were being funny????

Was it expensive to ship your SVX 3,000 miles across the country, TWICE??

From figures I've seen before, the cost of those two trips would be higher than most of our SVXes are worth (unfortunately).

Just curious why you did this vs. flying Tom out your way? Especially since I am also on the West Coast and would love to give Tom a go at my car sometime. :o

Steve was moving to NY and had to ship the car anyway... so it was only one way shipping. I am not sure on the costs of his shipping so I will let him chime in on that

Dependable Auto Shippers
$1360 Door to Door
Could have saved $100 or so by giving them a somewhat open pick up window.
It was crucial for me to have it go out on a certain day.
FYI, DAS is one of the more expensive companies. They are a carrier, and have their own vehicles every step of the way. Most shippers are contractors, and will farm out the trip to any rig going to the given destination. It can be cheaper, if one is loose about such things. As Tom says, mine was a one way deal.

Ok Now I understand the above quote. I was wondering how California was only 155 miles away:). Yes, the guys at the shop are just great. In the future you can do. Get a bunch of little things that need fixing and drive down there to get them all done in one day. It is a 2 hr ride for me and I have done it a few times already. My SVX loves the drive because living in Queens she never really gets to use her cruise control. Speaking of work Tom. I just picked up those JDM folding mirrors. We now have to figure out how to get them on my car:confused: Anybody out there know what needs to be done to get them properly mounted and folding on a USDM car:confused: I know the glass needs to be changed from one side to the other but just don't know of an easy way to get it all done. Does anyone else out there have JDM mirrors on a USDM car?

I used DAS when I shipped a Subaru RX. They're pretty good.

YAY for the All We'll Drive crew! YT hasn't worked on any of my cars (yet ;):D), but he's sold me some parts. He has a wonderful setup in West Creek/Tuckerton.

Hi Troy,
Where are you on the coast? There's a really honest Subaru shop in Novato, Ca.
I can get you the name if you like. They reluctantly work on SVX's, but know them well.

Steve

+1 for me! I recently had the 444 mod and a custom exhaust done by AWD, and couldn't be more pleased!
