head light covers

that the SVX nearest camera has headlight covers (side & main) - wonder if they are still available from somewhere?.

I know they are out of stock and not made anymore and we can't get them here in the US or Canada. I don't know if they can be gotten anywhere else. :o

Steve, that car is currently owned by Jason JDW-SVX, and used to belong to James, jamsvx.

Why don't you send off a PM to those two guys and ask them where they got the covers?

I found the last two sets in Canada and I alerted Chris Gooderham "CDG" to snap up the remaining set to protect the headlights of his new (my old) pearlie.

Here is the original reason for the covers:
Back when the SVX was first introduced, German TUV regulations required that all cars in Germany to have GLASS headlights. Many headlights were broken/damaged by spirited high-speed driving on the autobahn and other roads. (New legislation lifted that restriction and now glass headlights are no longer required.)

Subaru decided to make plastic headlight shields to protect the glass headlights. I am sure that some of these made their way into other markets, just as the ones in Canada. Check Japan and Germany.

I use them on long trips and particularly in winter to protect my lenses from road salt and other debris.

I will also ask in Dubai about them... BTW did I mention that prices in Dubai for subaru OEM parts are cheaper than anywhere in the world?
