We need your help to compile an accurate list of the available interiors for the SVX, world-wide.
Already we have compiled a chart of the available colors, and their correct codes. Now we want to do the same with the interior trim with your help.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photopost/data/529/medium/95-UK-SVX_VIN_plate.jpg
Above is a jpeg of a UK VIN plate. On it you will notice on the left a line called "Trim Code", and this code is 320 for this car. "Option Code" is on the right side, in this case it is BK.
Earl has already done a very fine pdf listing the USA trim types.
What we want here is to identify what each Subaru code applies to for all SVXs world wide, and you can give us this information.
Can you please insert the required information as it relates to your SVX by using post 2 as a "quote" and filling in the information for each question?
By this I mean reply to post #2 using the quote button on the bottom lhs, and then deleting the first part of the reply that will start with [quote=svxistentialist;539569]
Thank you.

Your VIN plate should be on the top of the suspension turret under the hood.
The four underlined questions above will come from the vin plate.
Your identifying exactly what trim you have will help us identify exactly what each Subaru code refers to.
This will be an aid to members refurbishing and rebuilding cars in years to come as SVXs get more rare.
Thanks in advance
:)

I got it around the time Ashwina was born. It was donated to me for free by a member here. He said that it needed some work doing and he wanted to see it go to a good home rather than to someone who would break it for spares. I was rather overwhelmed by his generosity.:D
There doesn't seem to be very much wrong with it. It's only done 100k miles, runs sweetly, the gearbox works OK, it passed an MOT and it's probably in slightly better condition than the claret.

Thanks Turbz,
Just go back in and edit your original entry when you have the rest of the info.
The best way to enter it, I find anyway, is to take a jpeg of the chassis plate and print it off. Then just copy off the information from the print copy into the correct slots.
Keep the jpeg printout, because this will come in handy. If you ever need to ring for parts, buy matching paint etc, just bring the picture with you, all the information is there for the dealer to get your stuff.

That was indeed generous of him. He obviously loves the SVX, didn't want it to be scrapped.

Thanks to all who have responded so far. Good information.
I think we need to revisit this matter and expand and clarify the template for people. Earl has mention the need for a domestic market slot, Paul above quite rightly mentions the obvious options such as aircon, cruise, ABS and sunroof. I'll redraft this, use an example from my own cars and ask for suggestions.
Thanks again

This can be achieved by either replying with a quote, or by copying the post and pasting into a new reply and editing in the extra information.

Ian
Thank you very much. That is fantastic information.
Interestingly we now have trim code information on 5 or 6 'Version L' or CXD variant cars, which is a high number.
I think if maybe another 20 or so people responded to this request for information, we could start to draw some conclusions.
One thing strikes me as 99% likely;the first number of the listed trim code denotes the intended model year for the country to which the car is exported.
e.g., all 1992 series cars are carrying an option code of 220. The two cars above are interesting examples of this. Ian's claret code 265 car is JDM market, so was released in 1991, but so far we have seen no cars with option code 120. His code is 220, which implies 1992 model year.
Brit-tic's car is one of the most unusual we have ever come across, being Swiss market. It has a rare combination of the newer and lighter burgundy paint, code 487, but is in the only market that we know where this colour paint was combined with the black roof and boot lid.
This particular car carries the option code 420, which seems to support the owner's contention the car is 1994 model year, although Earl thinks it ought to be 1995. Earl, does this car slot in the 1994 or 1995 build dates based on the production number? Do you know?
This car was in the dealership a long time before first registration in 1998.

Yes Earl.
For sure this belongs in the registration forum. It's great that people respond with details. We are gradually getting to glimpse the whole picture. Looking at just one market, the like of Joe Spitz has enough information to make it seem simple. But that is too simple.
The reality when you factor in the rest of the world markets, well that's a lot more complex. But we are getting there. ;)

I just looked at 3 other cars on page 2 all with the same applied model code, and trim code, none have an option code
There is sure to be a reason for this, so just put in NONE if no option code is showing.
It may be the case that for the USA your applied model codes actually dictate that the model will be an L, Lsi, Lsl or whatever types you have in the US. These codes would then dictate what options were fitted.
In Japan the system was different. You could buy a Version E, which for want of a better word had basic trim levels.
To this basic level the original owner could specify many options, such as sunroof, leather, cruise etc. In that instance the Option Code might indicate on the assembly line what needed to be fitted to the car.
That's my theory anyway. Once we get enough information from owners we will be able to verify if this is correct by observation and deduction.
Keep the details coming.
Thanks guys.

Here are the options and codes for the 1991/1992 JDM Alcyone SVX models.
Version E
CXWA23E-AX (AY) Auto Air Con
CXWA23E-BX (BY) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control
CXWA23E-BW (BV) Auto Air Con, ABS Cruise Control, Airbag
CXWA23E-BS (BN) Auto Air Con ABS, Cruise Control, Airbag, Sunroof. (Special factory order only)
Version L
CXDA25E-DX (DY) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control
CXDA25E-DW (DV) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control, Airbag
CXDA25E-DS (DN) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control, Airbag, Sunroof.
( ) indicates model with 2 tone silver and black roof.
On the VIN plate the option code includes a 'C', for example, the most basic Version E would have the option code AXC or AYC if it was 2 tone silver.

No Ron, check post #42 from Paddles in the Trim Code registration forum.
Earl's CXW comes with Auto Aircon, Cruise and ABS. If Earl's car was a standard 2-tone Black over Liquid Silver car, then it would have the option code of BX.
But because Earl's car has the 3-tone paint, Black over Liquid Silver over Mid Grey, then the option code for the same subset [Aircon, Cruise, ABS] is listed as BYC. From what Paddles tells us the C part is added to the VIN plate to denote that the car has those trim options, plus is 3-tone.

Per this attachment, there is no BY Option

The specs seem complete on this spreadsheet. I don't know, but the Aircon may have been a dealer option, it's not on the option list.
My CXDs are DXC, DWC, same as Phils, I don't know about the C, but these cars are accurate, per the link above.

Paul's post is consistant on DJW SVX, as a tri-tone (DV) CXD, this car also coded C.
Darren's car coded DWC.
My black V-L, DXC, has holes in the rear shelf for the aircon unit, and a fan switch.
My Pearl V-L, DWC, has no holes, and no switch,
I can see the evidence of the tri-tone Option Code with Earl and DJW SVX, but the C code is a bit more confusing.
[you were right Earl, sorry I didn't read the thread carefully enough, I was engrossed in the Japanese sheet Phil attached :o]

Ron, Phil's Japanese list sheet is lacking all right, but not in the way you are interpreting it. Absolutely brilliant list BTW Phil, thanks for posting that. :D
The reason the full auto aircon is not listed in Phil's Japanese option list Ron is because it was not an option. All Japanese SVXes even down to the very cheapskate 94-95 ones came with full auto aircon as standard. Therefore it does not need an option code.

Joe, I thought we were talking about the air ionizer mounted on the rear shelf :o, is that dealer installed or factory installed on JDM models? As far as I know, no other market received it.
I'm aware that the auto aircon is standard in every SVX, that's why the C is confusing, if that is what it relates to, and if so, the reason the C is deleted from the Japanese sheet.

Yes, now I see where you are coming from. The air purifier. This particular item is not given a code in either Phil's or Paul's list.
You will note that Paul has listed Auto Aircon even though I maintain it is not really an "option". You could not buy an SVX without it, it was standard in Japan. Note also that in Phil's list the basic CXW car has the option code AX. This car is shown with no available options and it's presumed it has aircon as standard.
The letter C on the VIN plate indicates only that it is a 3-tone car, so this letter C will not be on all cars, only the silver ones.

Joe, I'm still confused,
The letter C appears on both of my VLs, on Darren's VL, on Phil's VLs, DXC, DWC, these are not silver or tri-tone cars?
I do believe the options on the Japanese web-link correctly depict the only Option codes for VE and VL, can we assume the same Options and same code exist for all CXW JDM models, including S40, S40II, S3 and S4?

My S40ii has option code 9X. ABS, Cruise, No Airbag, No Sunroof. No CD changer. According to the chart, it should be BX. So the B has become a 9 on the later model.
It does have the air purifier, so does my black VL, but not the claret. I think these were dealer fitted because the wiring is badly spliced in, not part of the loom.

Is the air purifier in the JDM Accessory catalog?
The JDM rear wing, lower side graphics, and other accessories must be dealer installed, just as the upper side 'subaru svx' graphics and rear wings on US models were installed a port.

Here are the options and codes for the 1991/1992 JDM Alcyone SVX models.
Version E
CXWA23E-AX (AY) Auto Air Con
CXWA23E-BX (BY) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control
CXWA23E-BW (BV) Auto Air Con, ABS Cruise Control, Airbag
CXWA23E-BS (BN) Auto Air Con ABS, Cruise Control, Airbag, Sunroof. (Special factory order only)
Version L
CXDA25E-DX (DY) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control
CXDA25E-DW (DV) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control, Airbag
CXDA25E-DS (DN) Auto Air Con, ABS, Cruise Control, Airbag, Sunroof.
( ) indicates model with 2 tone silver and black roof.
On the VIN plate the option code includes a 'C', for example, the most basic Version E would have the option code AXC or AYC if it was 2 tone silver.
Just to make it a bit more clear.
The JDM specifications sheet shows the above option codes. However, the VIN plate for JDM models always adds a 'C' at the end of the option code for all Version E and Version L models.
The trim codes in brackets above are for the 2 tone silver and the VIN plate adds an additional 'C'.

thanks Paul :),
That's what we assumed since every VE/VL had a C on the option code.
Is there any practical reason that the 2-tone would use a different letter combination for the same Option Code?

The air purifier was in the JDM accessory catalogue. All the accessories in the catalogue were 'dealer options' and installation if required was done by the dealer. The air purifier was a popular option and most dealers would have had plenty in stock unlike the other options which had to be ordered separately from FHI.
There were 3 other dealer options not listed in the catalogue; plain 'dish type' wheels, speed warning chime (travelling over 105km/h) and fender mirrors.

Thanks for clarifying that Paul. I misunderstood the last line of your original post.
So a bog standard black [Ebony] SVX Version E with no available options other than the standard Climate Control would be CXWA23E-AX, and will show AXC on the VIN plate?
And a bog standard silver [Liquid Silver] SVX Version E with no available options other than the standard Climate Control will be CXWA23E-AX, and will have AXC on the VIN plate.
And lastly, a bog standard silver 3-tone [ you perceive the silver and grey as two tone silver ;)] {Liquid Silver over Mid Grey} SVX Version E with no available options other than the standard Climate Control and the optional mid grey lower panels will be CXWA23E-AY and show AYC on the VIN panel.
I hope I have got that right at last.

The VIN plate would read APPLIED MODEL CXWA23E, as that is the model. SVX models are 7 characters long. In my How Many Models thread, I am trying to determine how many models were produced.
To the right of the APPLIED MODEL, same line, different section, the OPTION CODE would read AYC in that example, just as you stated. Per paddles post, VE and VL Option Codes are three letters, with a C at the end :).
For those catching up, refer back to Joe's post #1 in this thread to see the VIN plate format :D

Comments:
Prior owner only put 4000 miles on the vehicle before the starter went out. I ran across it on Craigslist in June 2018 and on a whim I checked it out. In the glove compartment I found where the previous owner prior to this one had all major service performed at 166,000 miles. I bought it even when it was unable to be started.
Had it towed into the dealership that I have worked for since February of 2012. I’ve had our service department thoroughly go over it mechanically. Mechanically I lack replacing the muffler and having the 2 new dual tip exhaust outlets mounted.
Where I manage the body shop for the dealership, I’ve made it the shop project for the body techs to get extra hours when they need it for working out the exterior body panels. In my spare time I work on modifying the interior myself. I hope to be driving it full time by this Christmas 2018.
