I have a 1993 UK supplied SVX which has done 175,000 miles. The radiator needs replacing, I am pretty sure the power steering needs sorting and the gearbox is starting to show signs of wear (it is however my third box). There is little point in my paying for the car to be repaired so I am reluctantly selling it.

If anyone is interested in buying the car either for spares or to repair please email me with a reasonable offer.

That is respectably high mileage Philip. Where did you get the transmissions fixed, and roughly how much did it cost each time?

I hope you get someone to buy and repair.
Best of luck,
Joe

PS fancy coming down to Torquay Saturday next?? See other thread.

Hi Joe

Thanks for the invite but I don't think the SVX will make it down to Torquay. I hope you have a good meet.

The three times I had the transmission replaced were all under warranty. However in the first two cases the box was reconditioned by a company in Northampton and the garage told me that the cost was about £1,500. The third time Subaru supplied a new box and I believe the cost was £2,000.

I am in contact with the SVX specialist mechanic from Cheam Motors. He says he can get gearboxes reconditioned by a firm in Scotland. Would you like me to find out the company's name?

I love the SVX but it is let down by the gearbox and the high cost of spare parts.

regards

Phil

Thanks Philip

I know the company in Scotland, can't think of the name for the minute, but they are in Glasgow, highly professional, and fix a box for c.£1700.

Having so much trouble myself, I am inclined to agree with you, but I bought mine especially because it was auto. But it goes so well when it is right!!

Did you try selling to the guy Groundeffect met, his phone number on the other thread?
