If you have a question, the answer is probably in the How-To Documents. :o

So what's the difference between Black Mica (Ebony) 135 -first on list- and Ebony (Black Mica) 235/035 -eighth on the list??:confused:

Mike621
03-08-2008, 09:00 AM
The difference would be the color of the metallic flakes in the paint, Red or Green

ensteele
03-08-2008, 11:03 AM
It seems that all of the colors have two numbers like that. I don't know what the difference is. :o

The yellow is just yellow. There's no name to it?
Back in the day could you go to a US dealer and order the yellow with the paint code? Probably not......... right

ensteele
03-08-2008, 05:59 PM
Right. There was no yellow for USDM SVXs. Any yellow ones here in the US or Canada have been painted that color. :)

Okay, so I thought from reading various posts over the past months, that the Ebony Mica ONLY came with the red flake....that there wasn't a green flake made by Subaru...I'll check with the autobody shop when I'm there next week...see what colors make up #135; #235; #035.

The number doesn't seem to tell you whether it is red or green flake. We had a thread about this a couple of years ago. The numbers were the same, but the flake color was different. Yes, they did put both on the SVX, but there didn't seem to be any reason or indication of which was used when. :o

The yellow is just called yellow.

Here's Subaru's paint colour formulas for '92 (all models) from the '92 STIS workshop manual. Maybe Honda or someone else with STIS access could check out if there's differences with these &/or newer colours in later years?

#222 (which mine is) is a bit of a weird one, too - I've seen it called charcoal, gark grey, graphite...

Subaru calls it Onyx. I've just had a pressure pack made up (using factory code) and it has 'Subaru - Dark Grey/Onyx' as the colour. Go figure.

Anyways, this was really about putting the .pdf up.

Some of subarus paint codes have one code that when put into a paint database such as PPG it will show 2 codes for that one code which means it's a 2 tone. Also some that just have one single code and no other ones but is still a 2 or 3 tone, there will be no code for them. They are listed as Accent colors.

Tania,

Thank you for that pdf. That is exceptionally useful. With your permission we will post that pdf up in the How Tos along with the Excel chart.

Thanks very much

It's a bad translation of Red mica #947

Like on the service history of my 94 that says the "Locker cover gaskets" were replaced, presumably because they were Reaking.

Definitely my favorite classic Subaru. I <3 those older Subaru's. I got the plastic model that you got to build (74 gsr http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/g_library2/DOY/DOY127.jpg ). The highlight of my day. Good luck with it. If you ever finish it, post pics. Thanks for showing me it.

Maybe that explains the "L" stamped on our driver's side wheels. When standing at the front of the car, those wheels would be on the Light side

The other side (if they had an "R" on them) would mean Reft)
