Wheel and tire experts I need opinions on 19"s

Ok, here's my situation. I have my heart set on some wheels that have been discontinued and I can't find many of them left. The only 2 sets I can find on ebay in our bolt pattern are a 19" by 9" wide with a 40mm offset, and a 19" by 8" wide with a 30mm offset. So is there any chance either of these will fit? I'd like to lower the car at some point as well, so I need to take that into consideration. I really wanted 18"s but like I said they don't make them anymore and I simply can't find them. 17"s look too small, so I don't want them. 19"s are ok, it's just the width issue I'm worried about. So, has anyone run either of those sizes, and if so with what size tires?

Well the 19x9" 40mm offset would be the closest fit, but probably wouldn't work. Buy them and try them. If they aare out of production and sought after then you should be able to re-sell them to get your money back.
A thought; if you go to coil overs you would be ussing a smaller spring diameter and gain some room on the inside of the chassis, but may still have issues ww/ clearance on things up front wwhen turning at full lock.

The tire size I would recommend for 19's is 255/30/19. (it's basically the only size that exists for 19's that wil retain the stock tire diameter). Tirerack.com lists 9 tires in this size.

30mm offset will not work, no chance. You may be able to get the 40mm offset one to work, but you will most likely have to get the fenders rolled. There are a few members running 255 width tires on 8" wide rims, but the offset on those is ~48-50mm, and that's pretty tight. With the 40mm you'll be moving the outter edge of the tire a full 3cm outward.

I wouldn't be opposed to rolling the fenders, I don't see that being a problem. And I read a thread on here already about someone successfully running 9" wide tires on the rear, but it was an 18" wheel. Either way, I think I could massage the rear tires in one way or another, it's the fronts I'm worried about. I understand no one is going to theoretically be able to say yep that'll work, go for it. I'm just hoping maybe someone has actually done this before.

Just went and looked at my car (up on jack stands) and would give you a 'won't fit' answer. you will have suspension flex and sub frame movement due to all the rubber involved that you can't ever really measure. I had a similar deal with one of my former cars. I was running a 2455/60/15 on a 7.5" rim and had tire rub a few times, but met a guy w/ the exact same car (86 Monte Carlo SS) running 295/50/15's and he had no rub issues.????

i would really like to get a 19"+8" fo rthe front and 19"9 or 9.5" for the rear!

im current runing 18"+8" with a 40mm offset all the way round the fronts i had to roll the fender the rear fit nicely with room to spare

nope AWD the wheels will be the same diamter just the widths, skylines and a few other AWD cars have diffrent widths on there AWD long as therolling diamter is the same

You're correct, it's fine to run different widths. For example, the Jeep Cherokee SRT8 has a 9" wide rim in front, and 10" in the back. You just have to match your tires very carefully to get as close as you possible can to the same rolling diameter.

I was under the impression that lowering the offset on Subaru wheels can lead to premature wheel bearing failure, and that staying within 10mm of stock is best.

We won't even talk about the rears. Ideally.... If you run any size wheel on a svx with a 30mm offset you are in trouble. 30mm offset WILL NOT FIT PERIOD. The 19x9's with the 40mm offset will be tough. Crazy pilot's recommended tire size is very good, but my gut feeling is that they will not fit. Hate to break it to you. There are so many wheels/ wheel companies out there you will probably be able to find a VERY comparable wheel in an 18x7.5 or 18x8 with a better offset.

Just go by 18x8, I think this is enough in looks, fitment and weight. :)

Like I said, I'd love to find an 18X8, but the wheel is discontinued and I can't find them except in the 19X9. I might just keep watching ebay in hopes that a used set of 18s will show up.

I had some 19x7.5s on my car for a while
Centerline RPMs with 225-35-19s and my car
had our drop springs in it.
Offset was like 43mm I think.
You can probably run 8s but look for a higher offeset like
45 or 48mm if you can find it.
I may have some Ace Alloy 19" on hand if you are interested.
Personally I dont like 19s, they are not pot hole friendly at
all.

I agree with dayle.... 19's are too big and bumps would be brutal. Even on 18's with stock springs the ride is significantly harsher.

i have 19x 8 or 8.5 i cant remember. the tires are 215\35\19 i think.(tiny), but theres more than enough room for them in the wheel well and under the shock. even more than stock i wanna say. '

as for the ride, ive had 18's with too small tires, 18's with too big tires. and 18
with 225/40/18 perfect size. and my 19's

the best traction was the small 18's i think they were 215/35/18 but extra sticky. once they got warmed up i could hear pebbles hit my wheel well.

and the best ride was the 225/40/18s. was 1000 times "grippy-er" than stock but still had alot better ride than the 19,s

but my cars not lowered like dayles. the 19's would probably get pretty annoying.
