Well I'm always up for a meet and we have now in San Antonio... lets see:
1-3. Dustin (odepaj) - 3 svxes: 92 pearl ,92 ebony, and 95 brillant red
4. Skip (dengue) - 94 laguna blue,
5. Scott (SA SVX) - 95 laguna blue
6. ? - emerald or polo green SVX near Scott (which he needs to go and make contact with!)
7. Don - 94 fwd ebony
8. Jose - 92 ebony
9. Danny - 92 ebony
10. Marian - 94 barcelona red
11. Keri (tsproing) - 92 silver
12. Alan - 92 ebony (still yellow, I think)
13. myself - 93 barcelona red
14. Shaun (YourConfused) with his 92 ebony in Austin (he's close enough to lump him with us. :))

I know there are few others (brillant red, emerald green - with tons of bumper stickers on it, and laguna blue) but I haven't been able to meet their owners yet. Hey, we try to chase them down but it lately it seems I only see them in heavy traffic so I never have a chance. Oh and there is the Subaru SVX mechanic in Austin with 3 svxes (but have yet to meet him).

With as many as we have already, you'd think we'd be more organized with meeting.

There is also stevesby in brownsville and a few more in houston and of course Dallas.

Fixed you list haha! You had scott and skip backwards. There is also a guy with a '93 Anniversary off Potranco, I talked to him alittle and he's in love with his SVX but it doesnt run right now.

Also: There is a mechanic at the Belden's Auto on the North side of town (San Pedro) who used to work for Subaru and I think specialized in SVXs!

There is at least Ray (Network ID: Halistan (http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/member.php?u=78)) in Dallas and if I remember he lives almost next door to another SVX owner (who also happens to import japanese engines).
You should send him a PM as I know he loves meeting SVX owners but he doesn't always have a lot of time to surf the Network.

let's have a meet soon. i am thinking in early june. What do people think about that? give us all time to get our cars ready. Let's make this big. What does everybody say about meeting somewhere in austin? Austin is a great place and it is basically the only place anywhere near being in the middle of all of us. haha.

So lets get in gear and get this together. I want to see all of the TX SVXs out there and whoever else wants to drive out to the meet.

I have been talking to a couple of guys here about something this summer, like a BBQ.
I was shooting for te meeting in San Antonio becuase I think most of the TX people are here. We have like 9 SVXs (7 owners) in San Antonio (plus a few others that are only spottings). I don't mind driving to Austin but not sure about the rest...
How many memebers are in Dallas?

Im deffinetly in! (as if I had a choice since Marisa already put me on the list )

If we do it here in San Antonio we could have a BBQ/tear down dustin's ebony in preporation for his build:D;)

Then everybody could see alot of my plans and it'll be a good way of learning how to do various things on your own cars.

But if thats the case we have to push it back acouple weeks. I'm still trying to figure out how much longer im gonna have my garage:(

I'm more than sure i'll have it long enough for the build, I just gotta convince higher authority to let me use it.

We may have to push this back anyways :o

I just remembered that June is gonna be full of Subaru/local SA stuff.

Marisa should know; We've got oog and jeremy leaving on the 24th (larry is having a bbq/pool party at his house for them, theres the brackenridge photo/bbq being planned. So many people building their cars. We don't wanna plan to many BBQ's all in one month.

I heard talk of TXIC planning another Hill-country drive as well, so we could all go to that and then plan a BBQ/get together for another weekend or something?

Yeah,

I know about the BBQs and decided maybe July was a better time.. Summer school has started for me so I am trying to juggle some thing right now but if we one person to grill (maybe Scott) then a BBQ at your place would be fine.. we need to get you a grill though...

The Subie BBQ at Brackenridge Park looks to be taking place this Sunday @ 11am. It's open to subies so I am hoping some SVX people will show. I'm going to send out a mass email right now. Cause I'm going to be pitching in for food, etc so I want some SVX people there.

thinking the BBQ should happen around July 19th or 26th. Any votes? I need ot get cracking on that. The Subie BBQ last weekend was AWESOME - Pics Here (http://s302.photobucket.com/albums/nn84/cozykat/Subaru%20BBQ%206-8-08/?start=all). Great turnout and lots of food. :)

Dustin and myself will be going on the drive tomorrow to map it out for anyone interested.
The plan is that was meet early on Saturday and go for a scenic drive. Then we will return and have the BBQ at Brackenridge Park. I am not sure how many are up for the drive thus why the BBQ will be after the drive.

Hey,
Once Dustin and myself map out the drive today, we'll let you know how long it will take and that will give us a better idea what time to schedule it. I know you are driving down from Dallas so I am thinking you need to be alotted like 5 hours for that. Are you staying in SA overnight or you doing a round-a-bout and returning to Dallas the same day?

:D:D

The drive is gonna be LOTS of fun! It's about 140 miles and gets VERY twisty in some spots. Caution is the name of the game for Saturady, we dont want anybody shaking hands with a rock wall face or tree.......

The numbers for the meet are looking pretty good so far;

For the drive we've got:
Me
Marisa
Apocalixto
Tomas (if keri ever calls him back about finally buying the SVX from her)
Shaun (possibly)

And for the BBQ: (everybody already listed)
Scott
Skip
Don (possibly)

Plus any other Subaru's that show up. I think a few WRX guys might join us and heard talk of acouple Legacys/Outbacks joining aswell.

Im gonna try and borrow a camcorder and attempt to make the "in-car camera mount" that they showed on the last PRoN episode.

1604 & Highway 16/Bandera Road, left onto Park Road 37, right onto Ranch Road 1283, left onto Highway 16/Bandera Road, keep right on Highway 16/173, take Highway 16/Medina Highway to IH-10, IH-10 & 1604 (less than 5miles from where we start )

Ps. Just to make things clear, the route is the red (with patches of yellow) line.

We are pretty much wondering when you can be here so we can schedule it. lol Cause you are looking at maybe a 5 hour drive possibly.. so lets say you leave at 7am, here by noon, then we can go for the drive at 1pm, get back around 3pm and have the bbq.
Originally I thought we could do the drive at like 11:30 to make sure we are done around 2pm and then we can have the BBQ but I don't want you to miss the drive sooo when are you arriving? lol

Saturday, July 19th: BBQ/Hill Country Drive Update

BBQ Schedule is:

12pm (noon):
Hill Country Drive before the BBQ which will take about 2 hours in length. We will be meeting at the Home Depot off of Bandera.
The path is essentially: 1604 & Highway 16/Bandera Road, left onto Park Road 37, right onto Ranch Road 1283, left onto Highway 16/Bandera Road, keep right on Highway 16/173, take Highway 16/Medina Highway to IH-10, IH-10 & 1604 (about 5 miles from where we start) - Route: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...t/447555e2.jpg

3pm:
BBQ time @ Brackenridge Park - corner of Tuleta and Brackenridge Dr (Picture: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...t/0066be47.gif ). We will go directly there from the hc drive so it may start a little eariler, just depends on how long the drive takes.

The BBQ will go on as long as everyone wants but I would say at least until 6pm.

Again, I'm still looking for grilling volunteers otherwise.. lets hope i don't burn anything!

going to buy the supplies tomorrow (technically later today).

oh ya...update on my car...
the overheating problem went away...but as soon as i got back into dallas at about 3:00AM I noticed the temp go up to about 3/4 after we exited the highway. i checked the radiator fluid yesterday morning and it looked chunky of course...is it worth just going ahead and getting the PWR radiator or just replacing the radiator with an OEM one?

TXIC is planning a GC meet for August, I know they are inviting other Subarus. Maybe we should try to make it to that? I'm probably going, but I don't know what route they are taking.

Flush the fluid again? Im gonna need a radiator now also....

I let Tomas borrow mine until he could get a new one and now mine cracked..:(

So hes killed two radiators in two days (while owning his SVX for only three days).....

Don't know how he does it....

Wow stevesby! where have you been! lol

Well, with my car having Shaun's old engine in it as we both rebuild engines... it seems that an immediate future of a meet may not be happening.
Hopefully when it gets warmer we'll have a chance to do a get together. :)

Wow, I sould really get on more often! Well, I just moved to San Antonio a month ago with my two SVXi. Weird story, I ordered pizza delivered by "the House of Pizza & Chinese Cuisine" and the delivery guy (Ron on the receipt) asked me about my svx. He asked me if I had ever heard of his friend Dustin to which I replied not really. He then said that he was on all the forums as odepaj, to which I of course stated that I had heard of him. Anyways, he said yall get together every Saturday somewhere in SA?? I live in Braun Station West on the northwest side of SA. Still having meets? :)

EDIT

LOL, I just noticed that I was the opening poster of this thread nearly 3 years ago! I also noticed that your first meet is right near where I live, in fact I have spent quite a bit of time in that exact Home Depot parkinglot, buying supplies to fix up my house. I was only 2 1/2 years late! We need to have another meet!!

^ haha. Wheels are on backwards.

Dustin (odepaj) doesn't come out to the Subaru meet much anymore. He still has all his SVXi though.

We have a subaru meet every Thursday night @ 7:30pm. The location varies sometimes but mostly it is at: Willie's Icehouse and Grill, NW Military Drive, 4051 NW Loop 1604, San Antonio, TX 78257. I can start posting the meet info here too if you like. Currenly I only post in TXIC on NASIOC since I'm the only SVX that shows up.
Also I've started going to AutoX. The next event is this Sunday at Blossom Field Stadium (12002 Jones Maltsberger Road -- San Antonio, Texas 78238). It's every two weeks, alternating between Blossom Stadium and the San Antonio Raceway.

I live near you in the Great Northwest right off Tezel road several streets south of Braun. If you want to meet up outside a meet, lmk.

Don't have my SVX right this moment as its in the shop - I'm having a spot removed from my rear bumper.

Anyways, I am just off of guilbeau and manage at the walmart on guilbeau and bandera. It's crazy how quiet this forum seems to be now. I was going fort a few more active members in this area. I see you are rebuilding an engine? Anything crazy, or just a new stock build?

Hey, sorry I took so long to reply!

I see your car at that Wal-Mart all the time. And Jr (Ron) had told me he talked to you.

Another SVXer (Tomas) used to work in TLE at that Wal-Mart even, he in fact just saw you leaving because he was dropping off his girlfriend (who also works there).

The bumper is the green color, not sure if it is the teal or the polo version of green..but it is complete ready to bolt into the holes that are in the trunk.

The trunklid is black. I can't remember if it has spoiler holes or not, but I'd lean towards that it does have the holes.

The Texas forum has always been kinda quiet. Although we have a large number of SVXs in the area. I have joined the multiple svx owners club, with a non-running pearl in my backyard. Hah! But its a project I will get to once my engine build is complete. I'm building for a forced induction setup. Initially I wanted a twin turbo set up but the amount of chopping I'd probably have to do has me now leaning towards large single. You can see my build thread here (http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=49538&page=3).

Not that you need more cars but there is an xt turbo on craigslist for $1800 in Euless. Sounds awesome though, I am going to have to travel that way and see your mass subaru collection! I'm not to sure where we are all gonna be meeting?

I guess that all depends on what times you and Steve are gonna be in town.

I think Steve will be here all day/most of the day like he usually does when he comes to town and we're not to sure when you will be here and how much free time you guys will have.

I know the normal Subaru meets usually are later in the evening and that might work out better for us locals, but I figure that might not be great for you guys coming from out of town?

So I guess we need to figure out when everybody is gonna be here and free, and a general area that will be easy for everybody? Or if the normal local meet will be good for everybody.

I am getting my friends address so I know where in San Antonio I will be. For a free bumper I will meet steve at his hotel or whatever he needs me to do. Fix problem 1 of 2354435 problems with my car :). It's really not that bad, it just started smelling like burning oil really bad the other day and I need to do the valve cover gaskets and such. I wont be at the meet whenever it is. My car has gotten worse and I have no ideas. I have it for sale on craigslist, but not even so much as a nibble. Where is the AACV located? I really need a picture, but I am doubting that is the problem. Nate1986 told me it sounded like a botch rebuild on the engine. Well I am gonna figure it out I think, unless I get $2500 for it in its current condition. I know that is probably not possible. If we get it running good, I have a buddy that would love to meet up too.

I just saw this in the classified, a guy with a complete good engine for $600, in Houston

Well I have been searching for answers and there are definitely a couple of things that I would like to try before buying another engine. But I have some time off this week to try and figure out if this engine can be salvaged.

I was in san antonio yesterday and only yesterday. Good news though, the SVX is working better. Went driving it today and remembered how much fun it is! I dont see signs of smoke, but its dark out so its kinda hard to.

Well anybody is invited to the local meets, so it's all good!

Sorry to hear about your car, Calixto was having a lot of problems after the first motor ended itself in that car also. :(

On another note, sd2649 was just spotted by my parents  they had to call me and tell me about it.

lol, where did they see me?

but seriously, we need to have a mini meet sometime :)

We had a bit of an unscheduled mini-meet today in San Antonio at Marisa's house.

I left Northern Texas Friday afternoon heading back to Brownsville for the weekend. Around Austin, I got the dreaded 'Christmas tree' light show going on my dash with the headlights fading in and out...dead/dying Alternator

Not daring to go any further in the dark, I stopped in Austin and stayed the night, scouring the web for any local place that might have an alternator (yeah..right) Well I did find one listed on car-part.com so I had a ray of hope.

I send a couple of messages to the only person who could have helped me...Marisa! A couple of quick messages to see if she had an extra alternator found out that yes, she did have one in her garage. However I wasn't even sure if I'd make it that far..

In the morning I went to the parts yard...'Nope sorry the SVX was crushed long ago..no parts'

So..I hooked up the voltmeter and found I had just enough voltage with everything turned off to keep moving. Occasionally the xmas tree returned on and off with some wild voltage fluctuation, but it looked like I'd make it to San Antonio.

Got to her house, swapped in the new alternator (thanks for the help!) and after chatting for awhile, was on my way again.

Don't know what I would have done without your help..probably would have been stuck for a day or two until I could fedex one in.

So again..thanks Marisa! You helped me out of quite a jam there!

Oh..and your new engine looks very nice too.

Hello all, didn't really search this site for a Texas area, what do you know we have one. Add me to the list: 92LSL Liquid silver.

I will be in Austin this weekend for the Incubus concert. Unfortunately after my recent ticket, the SVX will not be joining me. We should still try to get a Texas meet together. I need to get my car inspected before I could go anywhere though.

Bumping this thread just for the hell of it.

We're gonna have to figure out where everybody is and update the numbers for local owners.

I know quite a few people have sold their SVXs and at least one of them made it's way to the junkyard :(

local sa subaru weekly meet is still going strong. *hint* :)

:o I'll make it out to a meet sometime, I swear

Did you get the one that Geoff was selling? Am I right about that. That one was very tempting for me.

Yep, that's the one. The car has been pretty good other than few hiccups here and there. Was under the car a few days ago trying to find the source of a rotational noise when I noticed the my LF outter CV boot is half gone. Need to get it repaired before the rains start :(
