Hello Dan

Soobie nut, eh? :D I've owned four or five of them now. It does not seem to wear off.

Welcome to the Network.

These are good cars man. Get yourself a good one, it will repay your effort and investment.

Joe:)

ive owned 14 roos so far, currently i have a 92 loyal with a 3 inch lift kit, and a jdm legacy with an sti motor:D

but alas...the wife needs a toy to drive-i found a maroon 95 svx lsi in nor cal with a fresh motor rebuild, timing belts, valcover gaskets, 4 new wheel bearings, 2 new front axles, a 2 year old professional paint job, new wheels and tires(18s)..um new brakes and rotors

but it has a (going bad) tranny. the good news is it is owned by a subaru reapir shop-he wants 2500.00 says it will make the 400 mile drive home.

what do we all think here, sounds good, right?

what kinda mileage? Seems like a good deal if the work that was done to it was done right. Being you seem mechanicly inclined (Previous subarus experiance speaking) a tranny swap / repair is no big deal. There's plenty of info on the subject, a simple search will turn it up

i dunno milage..but im no stranger to motor swaps...all though id rather not do it anymore

There are two kinds of svx. Ones where the tranny is going bad, and ones with manual tranny swaps.

:D :p

That is not a fair comment. If memory serves, possibly 10,000 SVX's were sold in North America.

The ones with problems in the transmission are sure to turn up here. They are the squeaky wheel, so everybody hears about them. Whine, whine, whine.

Yet we have had people turn up on the "Sign in here" thread with up to 200,000 miles on the original tranny.

Not to mention the many thousands who don't darken our door. They don't need to, they have no problems to sort.

If you want a stick shift, do a 5-speed swap. But if you fix the auto properly and keep the oil cool, it will last as long as you want it to.

Yeah. It's not fair to say that the manual swaps are more reliable. Most of the autos last 85000+ miles. As far as I know nobody has put that much mileage on a manual swap.

id love a manual svx...but the odds of finding one are slim...so looks like ill have to do it-or get a well cared for auto. if i can find a functional auto trans-ill keep it that way

now if i could only find this magical car....

I'm looking for my first also. There was recently a pretty good one in my area that was on ebay, but the timing wasn't right for me.

Don't get into a hurry. Take your time and find a good one. If you don't, you will have about $15,000 in your new one. :) What I mean to say is that sometimes you can get a real cheap one that will cost you more money in the long run. Good luck on the search. :)

I agree with Joe. That is not all together true. There is one in my area that has over 300,000 miles and it is the original tranny. I have had a manual 5 speed in one of mine and I am on the second transmission. That is not as good as some of the autos I have. :o

Hmmm, legacy turbo you say? Too bad Jersey and Oregon are 1000000 miles away from each other, otherwise we'd have a deal.
