Do you have a tranny compatibility list for SVX ?
preferable year and models of the car.

No answers?

Basically '98 and older transmissions without the spin on filter will work with the SVX.

Most Subaru manual transmissions are SVX compatable.

Keep in mind that is with modification.

I believe they were saying that the 05+ sti 6speed tranny is compatible, 99-2005 wrx is compatible, 94-99 legacy is compatible, and some era of the forester. My years are wrong probably but they should be close, perhaps someone can clarify...

Keep in mind though, these all require modification including fabricated parts, fitting, etc, but quite a few folks have converted to manual trans, think there's around 50 on the network with a 5speed or 6speed.

Sorry for being a noob, but will any 98-older 4EAT tranny bolt in and work? I'm not looking for all the work of a manual swap and I'm looking at a car with a bad trans. Thanks.

Yeah, any trans will work and bolt up, but the SVX has a final drive ratio in the front and rear diff that is different than all other automatic Soobs. You'll need to match the rear diff to the new trans.

So I will have to replace the rear diff too?

So I will have to replace the rear diff too?
use the rear diff from the trans you buy.
it will usaully be 4.11 or 4.44

i have done these transmission swaps for about two years. about 20 swaps

So will I be able to use the SVX's axle shafts with the different rear diff?

If you just directly swap the new diff for the SVX diff, you'll most likely lose the LSD since most other Soob's don't have one.

A better choice is to get the ring and pinion out of the new diff, and match it with the LSD carrier from the SVX diff. I think SVXfiles has the how-to in a link in his signature.

With this conversion, then yea, you'll be able to use your stock SVX axles.

Other than that, you'll also use the stock driveshaft, wiring harness and TCU.

Could always grab a 4.44 LSD from an Outback or a 4.11 LSD from a 2.5 RS...

Rare though.

so would any tranny at all other than one out of an SVX be a direct fit without messing with the rear diff?

No, but it really isn't that hard to do.

the WRX and STi manual transmissions will work with the stock diff if they have a 3.90 final drive and a 1.1:1 ratio in the transfer case.

I'm not sure of the years but the 2004 and 2005 6spds DON'T have the 1.1:1 reduction and the 2006 STi 6spd does.

I would love to have a manual tranny if I buy the SVX I'm looking at, but I don't think I have the time, money, or craftsmanship to do a swap like that. I'd probably have to trick the computer into thinking it was an auto installed too.
So now I've just got to find myself an auto tranny and rear diff that will work.
