Diana sent this to me today, and I thought I would share it.
> I was just a biker.....

> I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.
> But, you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection

> I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on

> But, you didn't see me playing Santa at the local mall.
>
> I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant.
> But, you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money

>
> I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by.
> But, you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your

>
> I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children.

> I saw you stare at my long hair.
> But, you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for

> I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.

I have a friend that was on his way to work at 55 mph on a touring bike, when an old man in an F-150 pulled from his driveway into his path.
Steve hit the truck on the drivers door hinges and bounced back 50 feet to land in the ditch. he had a 4 inch hole cut into his skull to give the brain room to swell, they took muscles out of his thigh to rebuild both arms.( while they were there putting 4 rods in his legs). They took part of his hips to rebuild his face,( since there were extra pieces laying in there) and just about the time he graduated from a wheelchair to a walker, his wife was rear ended on her bike and killed.

The girl that killed her had just passed the car that was following the bike, and swooped back into the lane , (too late to do anything)

Steve's Dad hauled the crashed touring bike to my farm,( about 700 miles), where it was displayed for about 5 years ( the crash was in South Carolina)

We just kept it for an 'educational' tool for new drivers and others that needed reminded..

We finally crushed it last year.

Tom, you have met the man. In fact, your dog ate his 'do-rag' on the planet MRAF last summer.

In Maryland, every dime collected from the 'motorcycle licensing process' is DONATED ( by the state government), to the ORGAN DONER program!

They TELL the applicants that when they apply for a motorcycle license!

I KNOW this, because when I went over and got my 'learners permit', they told ME!

I had always been an 'outlaw biker'. I have had many bikes and was never legal to drive any of them.

I traded my last bike, (Honda Goldwing), for the 85 XT 4X4 turbo coupe...

The Goldwing was the WORST bike I ever sat on! I am GLAD that it is gone.

Lots of people 'round here have the "Watch For Motorcycles" bumper stickers.

Seems to be working. I haven't heard of or seen many accidents. I can only recall 3. One I saw, biker got hit by by a Santa Fe, one I lived vicariously through my mom. An oblivious woman in a large truck cut her off and sent her over the hood. Third was horrific enough to hear about. He got run over by a semi in the opposing lane. I forget how he fell. I think someone knocked him over.

Sometimes when I ride, I weave side to side in my lane to draw attention.
Seems to be working.

Well, the Goldwing does appear to be some sort of attempt by Honda to make a car into a bike, and we all know what Honda cars are like....
