Any recommendations on 18" wheels and tires.

Will they cause to much wear from the extra work the struts have to do ?

What is the widest 18" tire used by anyone here ?

The 05 STi rims are becoming more popular. You would probably want to limit to 18x8 with sufficient offset.

Is the ride a lot more bumpy ?

I would assume so. I still have stock rims but I would think that since there's less sidewall to flex there's less bump absorption.

The car has an excellent ride regardless. You may notice it to be a little less forgiving over large single bumps, but you won't notice any "jarring" of the ride, because that's all strut/spring.

I run 18X7 on my car and the ride is stiffer. I can tell when I switch from the stock winter rims to my summer 18's. by going to 18" your going from side walls that 2.21 inches to a side wall that is only 1.77 inches. Its going to be stiffer.

18" axis decades with rear maxis lip, 18+8 with 40mm offset works and looks good

I just installed 18' on mine last month. I don't notice the ride quality getting worse so much. Probably the new quiet tires are helping.. I let many people ride with me, but nobody noticed anything....so far.

Mine is Nissan Murano stock 18" rim.
I forgot how much, but it has some off-set. 225/40/18 tires will fit good. It's Fusion tires.

RX8 wheels are a nice choice. I'm going for some 18'' Kazeras fitted for the RX8.

I still love that look too. Thought about doing it more than once.

Ive got the chrome ones:D 30+ mm offset. The rear rubs over bumps and stuff but the car has 170k miles so its time for springs:(

I was seriously thinking about that RX8 rims as well. But I found good deal on Murano rims first, so I took that.

Nice chrome rims and black SVX!:)
It has 30mm? Yeah when I picked up my car the right rear tire was rubbing. Only right side. Hmm that's strange. So I checked it and found the innner fender was popping out and rubbing the tire. So I just pushed it back, and problem solved!:D

Murano rims was good deal. I guess people sell stock rims pretty cheap since they don't use them after they get new rims.

Still thinking about what to do with center cap saying "Nissan" though!:)

Ha Ha the center caps is something I think about too. Nissan and Subaru seem to be brother and sister. I stole those for 425 bux shipped. they used to rub then i "massaged" the fenders and it was okay for a year then it started to rub again:mad:

we have alot of pics up on our site of cars with rims
and alot of 18" wheels on special at the moment too..

www.planetsvx.com

As far as "ride quaility" ...80% of that comes from the tires..
If you buy cheap tires, expect a crappy ride...
buy something good or better, expect a much better
ride, handling too.
I usually run Nittos or better on my cars and have zero
complaints and my cars been lowered too.
