I just scored a set of those split 5 spokes that come on the newer Stangs(thanks for the idea Dayle), but they have 235/55 17s on there. Any chance of them being OK? I know it would raise the car .93 ". Wheels are 17 x 8 45mm offset. Thanks.

I wouldn't run the rubber. I calculated a height difference of about 1.15".

The tires themselves are 58.9mm taller,(27.18" vs stock of 24.86") thats 2.32"!
It will be harder on your clutch, your speedo will be off 9.3%, the car will be much slower.
If you had an automatic trans it would die very soon....
What final drive ratio do you have?

A 245/40/17 would be a great match at 24.72" tall.

Biggest tire. That would be us. But it is probably also the smallest diameter tire too. 16x10x23s.

We've run with 255/55r16s on ours. Probably about 27 inches. I wouldn't recommend it.

Doesn't count until they're actually on the car..... :p

275/45-16 will be on my car as of this Thursday...

This car will be getting a 4.44. Thanks for the input. I guess I'll try them on if I can find some lug nuts.

OMG! They actually fit and don't rub. Well, I just drove it around the neighborhood over some humungous speed bumps. Just getting in and out of my driveway is quite a test. I love the meaty look. Sorry about the poor photo quality. Time for a new digital camera.

Wow what an awful photo. At least the scuff in the rear 1/4 is barely noticeable. :D

I have a very educated suspicion that when you turn hard you'll not only rub but wack that front fender pretty good. Might want to try some hard turns out before you declare they fit. Remember that wheel comes out of the fender when you turn!;) If you think they give a meatie look try it with 255 dirt stock tires!:D

Does this one already have the 5 speed w/4.44s in it?
How does it accelerate?:)

After reading the title I thought I'd surely see a picture of this:

Nope. This has the stock tranny. 4.44s to come. But this experiment is over. No problem in the front. The right rear fender liner was moving at speed and was gently rubbing. Even with incredibly worn suspension. These wheels are probably just the right width/offset for a tall tire on an SVX. But it is anti-performance and that's not what I'm about...not now...not ever! Car is a little slower and braking is not as good. I think a 50 series would be allright, but 55 is just too tall. I'll be moving to a 225/45 17. The two extra inches diameter did however cause the speedometer to finally read accurately. 42 on the speedo = 42 on the police radar. No ticket, just a display. :D Anyone have a Mustang that needs tires? :D

I have a 91 Ford with 22.5's! (rim) do they count?

I run a light truck 16in on my car as I get a extra 1in clearance underneath. The only time they hit is when the car bottoms out and it is the back top of the wheel well. Interesting thing is in Australia the cars all read the incorrect speedo by reading to high now with the larger wheel it is spot on and I am comparing to a GPS. Go for it I have had mine on for 120,000 k and not one problem.
