well, the meet monster struck us today. avppow, it's just eric, and myself were out driving when avppow's throttle cable snapped at the gas pedal. after thinking and pondering for a bit, we ended up at the decision to use a shoe lace through the sunroof to get back to the hotel. we are hoping that someone has a spare so he doesn't have to drive back to jersey using the shoe lace.

more info to come

We made it back safely. I'll be going out to replace the throttle cable in a few minutes.

they replaced the throttle cable no problem...

and it's pouring outside, currently a ball joint is being changed(not in avppow's car), and i think that is going to be the last of the tech repairs for the weekend out here because they're going to dismantle the tent after they're done

I'm really hoping someone took pictures . . . I'm trying to imagine how a shoe lace through the sunroof was a temporary fix for a broken throttle cable. Who got to ride on top of the roof operating the throttle?

I'm glad everything worked out!

he had the whole cable comming out of the back of the engine bay and up over the windshield and then pinched down into the cockpit through the sunroof. Throttle was worked by the passinger... damn impressive if you ask me.. :D

Lol, it was my shoelace...
As stated before, the shoelace ran from the throttle, throught the hole to hold the engine cover (As it was a VERY good guide to keep the shoe lace where it needed to be) up the windshield and into the car via sunroof. AvPPoW's driving skill was pretty good, although Brad had to shift for him, being his hands were full. Hilarious and yes, there are pictures. Hopefully they get posted

You all know that someone always get hit hard by the meet monster. I was having a Twin Cities meet on Saturday 22nd and got bit that Friday on the way to dinner. I had to get a tow home. :(

Timing belt burned thru my covers.

I was imagining someone in the passenger seat with their foot through the sunroof controlling the throttle.

"No, no you're supposed to REMOVE the shoe lace first!" :D

....John really is taking his time posting them pictures  :D
John didnt have to be outside the car at all..my shoes came with particularly long laces.
Mad props to Lakai footwear inc. for making such durable laces, and a special thanks to Rain-X for allowing us to not use the windshield wipers, possible causing an intresting accelerating pattern in our partially disabled state

Surprisingly accurate. I was used to it by the time I made it back to the hotel. I managed clutch brake and gas and Brad shifted for me (my car is a 5mt).
