Reading Vii Contract Signed!

The contract for Reading VII has been signed and returned to Morgantown.

Presently the contract calls for 35 rooms; 30 rooms will have the two queen beds, with 1-4 people per room, and 5 rooms with king beds. In bold letters on the contract it says “Please block rooms in the same area of the hotel” If we need to we can add rooms as necessary.

Tia has reassured me that our concerns from last year have been addressed.

There will be a choice at breakfast; either the buffet or ala carte. The bar will be open until midnight, and maybe later, if there is business to support it. Housekeeping issues have been resolved. The only thing still a little unsure at this point is whether the hotel will be open for lunch.

Tia seems very excited and enthusiastic about working with us and doing whatever is necessary to make this a success. As the time gets closer, I will ask her about any other activities/group functions that may be going on that weekend.


Here is the summary of important points:

READING VII DATES: Friday, April 21, 2006- Sunday, April 23, 2006

The room rate for Reading VII is two queen beds or one king bed for $69.00/night plus 11% tax. Total: $76.60/night

Call the hotel at 1-800-339-0264 and give them your room request and let them know you are with the Subaru SVX Club for the preferred rate.

The only other important thing to remember is that the cutoff date for reservations is Friday, March 24, 2006. After that, any rooms in the original reserved block will returned to the main hotel availability and any reservations made after that date will be provided on a space available basis, with no guarantee of the preferred rate.

Give them a few days to get this contract in the system and then you can call and reserve your lodging. I have already been the first to guarantee a room, so there are still 34 rooms remaining. Let's see if we can make this meet so successful that we have to increase the number of rooms needed before the New Year.

I just spoke with Tia Jones at Morgantown to see how the reservations list was coming along. She checked while I was on the phone and she said that, except for mine, all of the rooms in the original block of 35 were still there.

Does this mean that no one else from the Network has registered for Reading VII?

Can this be true??? No one???

Jennifer told me that there were 28 rooms left out of our block, so I guess that the first 5 rooms before me reserved were all King size beds. :rolleyes:

Earlier in this thread (post#11), svxfiles got some misinformation from the hotel as to how many rooms were left in the block and that all of the king rooms were taken. I have successfully changed one of his rooms to a king so he and Diana wouldn't have to duct tape two queens together.

It's not looking good for me at all now:( The doctor took me off work for 3 1/2 more weeks minimum making the back to work date feb.23. Take PA Turnpike (I-76) TO Exit 298 at Morgantown
Turn left to RT 10 South,
Make right at first light and follow road to the hotel

Just trying to get some numbers to use for leverage when we're bargaining with the management. The only thing they understand is the bottom-line revenue generated by our gathering. If we can say we fill X number of rooms on average every year, they are usually a little more flexible with everything else.

I can get from akron,oh to cumberland,md in under 31/2 hours, So I figure I should be able to get to reading in about 5-6 hours. I usually lock the cruise on at 80-90MPH on the turnpike or 80(depending on conditions), Or just follow someone whose going faster than that.
