I just replaced my front struts with a brand new set because I thought they might be worn out (I thought the car bounced around a little too much, but it does the exact same thing with the new struts). I've only had the car for less then a year, and it looks like the previous owner might have changed the struts right before he sold the car. When I compared the old struts with the new, I couldn't tell the difference in the pressure needed to push the strut down and pull it back up. If anyone is interested, email me at vettn@attbi.com.
