Wheels and gears question

Ive seen a couple svx's with 18 inch wheels and some with 4eat transmissions.
Do you have to do anything to compensate for the changes in gear or tire size?
What options are there for correcting these changes?

No need to change gear size wih 18 inch tire so long as you plus size correctly. If you check out Motorsports warehouse they also have 19" size that they sell. if you go with the 19 run a 225/35/19 and youll be off 1.8% bascially at 60 you will be going 60.8 if you run the 18" 225 40 18 and youll be .9% off 60.6MPH and for any other tire size needs or maybe a coustom width to maybe get slightly closer check here http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

+1.8% would be almost perfect for me. I figure my car reads +1.5%.

other than changing the gears in both front diff and rear diff there's no compensation needed to change gear ratio's (well, maybe tighten your seatbelt alittle more)

I'm reffering to how much would the gear change throw off the speedometer.

none is what hes saying the wheels are still turning the same speed just with a slightly different number reading on the tach.

the speedo sensor effectively takes its reading from axle rotation in the differential, so as long as the tire size is right, the gear ratio doesn't matter - clearer?

I was just in the train of thought that something had to be done to make up for the changes, I wasn't sure how the SVX calculates speed.

Run 225-40-18 tires and youll be cool
