i had fun how bout you guys? im gonna go as soon as i can and now i am lookin to sell my svx and get an impreza. after seeing those up there and what they sounded like and could do im up for one now!

I have a great new respect for the impreza, that's for sure, if i would sell my svx for one is a probable no. Those little 2.5 RS are crazy not to mention the WRX and STI.. very impresive on tarmac and gravel, matt you need to go gravel with somebody next year..OMG it is amazing

on a side note, if for any reason i had to part with my svx or got tired of it.. an impreza would be the next on my list now..wow wow wow wow <long low whistle> man can those things scoot(wish I had more money)

as for the rest of the Dragon experience, it was all wonderful, a bunch of great people and a great place, and beautiful(unexpected) weather. I want to thank everybody for an awesome time, hope to see you all again

im gonna try and head back up in the fall and i hope my car will be sold and i will have stuff done to an impreza by then. then when we go up i will have my rims intake short throw shifter all the shabang and i have an extra set or pirelli's with stock rims on it i could go graveling in witch would be fun but im inexperienced on that and so i would have to practice on some roads out here. i would hate to end up in a ditch..........also.

Dragon was fun over all..... Sucks that my SVX couldn't be there, but I still had fun... However, my ride back was probably the most amazing and stressful mass of events that has happened in a long time.... But they were NOTHING compaired to Jen's bad luck :(:( I'll let her post about it if she wants... I'll probably post all the things that happened to me as soon as I actually get some rest and let my heart slow down... :rolleyes:

I hope Jen made it home OK, sorry I didn't get to help any more with it, but had people waiting on me, and looked like you had her taken care of.

Hmmmm, bad news man.... She made it about half way into Virginia before her tranny was just stuck in 1st. I will let her post more about it if she wants... But to put it into perspective, her day was about eleventy billion times worse than mine.... Here is what happened to me (taken from my post on NASIOC earlier this morning).....

"WOW, have I got a story for youguys about my trip home....

--- 9:30am on Sunday, woke up and packed up tents and other stuff...
--- 10:50am, Checked out of Fontana
--- 11:15am, I left Fontana after working out some issues with Jen's transmission in the SVX (The Burgandy one I was in all week).
--- About 12:30, the little VW Rabbit starts over-heating as I am working my way out of the mountians twards I-40.
--- 12:45 I finally pull over when the water temp suddenly swings back to cold again.
--- 1:00pm Check the "water".... THERE WAS NONE!!!!!!!
--- Manage to find some random fluids to put in the car to get me to a rest stop (about 5 miles down the road), where I discover that my water pump is GUSHING my "makeshift coolant" like an open tap almost!!!
--- 1:45pm, I gather all the bottles that I can find at the rest area and fill them with water.... Must have been about 20 gallons total!!!
--- 2:15pm, leave the rest area for Canton, NC (Where my SVX is located) while "Watering the highway" with my messed up water pump...
--- 3:00pm, after picking up a waterpump from Advance Auto, I head up to Shane's (my mechanic) and start taking the motor apart...
--- 4:15pm I discover, after the engine is almost in peices (AND STILL WARM/HOT!!), that Advance Auto gave me the WRONG WATER PUMP!!! Luckly we find a place that has the right one and go get it...
--- 5:15pm, I discover, after taking the timingbelt cover off, that there is a MASSIVE GASH in my timing belt!!!!
--- 5:50pm, Get the belt and go back to the house and start taking off more stuff to get the timingbelt replaced...
--- ..............................................
--- 10:45pm, finally finish replacing the timing belt and water pump on the little beast of a Diesel!! Fill with coolant (Real stuff this time) and let it idle for about 15 minutes...
--- 11:00pm, Shirtless and partially covered with oil and other fluids, I leave Canton, NC...
--- 6:00am (This MORNING!!) I arrive in Beaufort, SC... Stopped once for fuel, twice for strech and water breaks, once to check the coolant, and once to sleep (kept blinking off)....
--- 6:15am, called my boss and told her everything... She gave me 2 hours to sleep and get ready for work...
--- 8:15am, left my room for work.....
--- 10:00am, started posting this post in between random work....

Jen said that she had a great time, too bad her car bit it :(... She is having it flat-bedded down to Asheville (same place mine is) and we are swapping a tranny into it :) She should be back on the road and in NY before the end of the week :)

ya'll were runnin that svx pretty hard. i was behind you in mine on the last run on saturday and u were scootin threw those turns. ones i felt one slip up in my svx i pulled over and left the power steering cool off until i went all the way back. but i just had my trans rebuilt so that prolly y mine didn't mess up or slip. and it was a good ride home for me.

After Dave and I refueled I stomped the gas trying to look for Jen, but she was no where in sight. Definately would've helped her out if possible. Prior to our fueling I did notice a bunch of smoke coming out the back of her baby, but couldn't quite tell if it was from under the car or from the pipes (distance was to great to tell). Hope all goes well for her.

As far as the meet...I had so much fun! Maybe next year I can cop a ride with one of you guys and see how the SVX handles there (counting down til I get mine running) First time at the bon fire for me and it was a pretty cool thing...I really like the fact how everyone pulls together as a happy group and meshes well. That's my kind of meet! Already having withdrawls!

If you are serious, I really do want to make it to the Dragon sometime in my life. I will be out of school next year and it will be more reasonable to make the trip.

The sights are amazing (well, for me they were), the people are great, and where else can you get to see so many old/new school Soobs in 1 place? This event is one of those "before I die" things most definately.
There is lots of time until the next one so start fixing what needs it, planning your adventure and join us... you won't regret it! :O)

OK so i just finished typin this up for nasioc... ill share over here too:

Well my trip was a loooong one to say the least. It all started on sunday morning.

*Packed up the camp stuff and headed to check-out...
*Got to checkout but the car was stickin in 2nd...
*Huck put in my 2wd fuse and chris drove the car and she was fine...
*Started heading home and sometime in the beginning of virginia i lost 4th gear...
*At that point i could have made it home fine just doing 60/65 with the car revving at about 3300...
*On the drive i was hangin out in the right lane doin the speed limit but there was a truck... towing 3 other huge trucks in my lane, so i figure hey! im goin to get around this thing its a lil wobbly and i didnt really feel comfortable behind it...
*So as i hit about 85 passing the truck i notice a nice lil police man radaring me at 86... needless to say he pulled me over...
*Now as he walked up to my window the smoke coming out from under my car was just as awesome as at the dragon, however he didn't obviously care...
*Now, this being the first time i have ever been pulled over i figured hey, maybe ill get some warning or something, but no... he hands me a ticket...
*Now i get back on the road and probably an hour and a half or two hours later maureen and i stop at a rest stop...
*Now i think we're about 400 some odd miles into our trip... We get out of the bathroom and head to the car and get in....
*I go to go into reverse and... it doesn't happen, so i ask some guy to help me push the car out cause it will still engage in drive so then we were out of the spot and back on the way...
*As i started to head back on to 81(probably the longest and most horrible road ever) as i accelerate i get into second, and thats it.... I pull over and think maybe i could try again... start goin again and nothing...
*I went in the shoulder up to the next exit... #264 on 81... and pulled into the first gas station... I called chris and he was with shane(his mechanic) so they had me check all my fluids and see if there could be something that could magically fix the car...
*Ended up putting about two and a half quarts of oil in the engine cause she was waay low... and i think a quart or maybe a quart and a half in the tranny...
*This made the car run smoother... but she still wouldnt shift... At this point maureen and i kind of figured that we werent getting anywhere fast so we got a hotel room for the night and tried to figure out what to do...
*Got to the room and between calling everyone i know my plan turned to getting my car back to NC because shane could change the tranny for me and he already had what i needed... My mother called my father(whom i hadn't talked to in over a year and really didnt want to have to turn to) and he ended up coming down that night 8 hours later...
*Come 5 am when my dad rolled up i was actually peeing blood which was awesome let me tell you(sorry if thats a bit graphic)
*so at 5 am maureen and i hopped in my dads truck and went to the emergency room while my dad got some sleep for the drive the next day...
*yeah so according to the dr i was crazy dehydrated and my body wasnt flushing its system cause i wasn't drinking anything(since we were in the car all day and i didnt want to have to pee) So i got to get 2 iv's and some drugs for the road...
*so back to road...the medicine i had made me have to pee constantly... there was actually a point on the ride back down to NC where i went 10 miles apart... let me tell u that doesnt help speed up a trip...
*yeah so we ended up renting a trailer to tow the car down with... the difference in price of a dolly and the full trailer was twenty bucks... so obviously we opted for the full trailer...
*So finally monday night we rolled in to drop my car off.. spent the night and headed out at 430/5 am tuesday morning...
*Now before when we had gotten stuck in virginia maureens mother made her get a plane ticket home form NC cause she wasnt sure if we were gunna stay and wait for my car to be done so tuesday morning we went from asheville to knoxville... about an hour and a half or so trip so that added 3 hours onto our trip home...
*So i ended up getting home from the dragon at 9pm tuesday night after leaving at about 1130 sunday morning...

Phew... that was exhausting.... Yeah so at least i had an awesome time at the Dragon, i would even say it was worth the miserable trip home! I'll be back to dragon again!!! It is awesome! Now i just need to get my car back!!

btw, that was me and Melissa (Subbyru89) that you saw in the white XT6 in Southern VA. We pulled off for gas south of Whyethville, we were looking out for you once we got back on the highway.

Not sure if we could have done anything to help, but we would have tried...

Glad to hear the bad trip didn't spoil the great time that the dragon provides :D

I don't know if it was a full conversion, but I did gain a significant amount of respect for the little car.

There's one on E-bay right now that looks like it will sell for under $250. :D

It would make a fun project. For now, I'm going to stick to my Justy project.

Now i'm more scared of the drive home :rolleyes: . Looks like i have between a 9-13 hour ride home all by my lonesome. I was thinkin i could do the 9 all in one shot... But now that its lookin like i might have to do the 13 i'm thinkin i can't and will have to stay somewhere in the middle :( . Not fun... Oh well, the upside is I GET MY CAR BACK!!!!!!!
